  2. CAREERS Careers, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) The purpose of CEIAG is to help students to gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to manage their own lifelong learning, key skills and career development.

  3. CAREERS Legislation • Government directive to stay in Education until students reach the age of 18, options are: Sixth form College Apprenticeships

CAREERS • Years 9, 10 and 11 have a bespoke pathway through Next Steps booklets completed with Tutors • Specific to the students requirements • Year 9 and 10 have Settling In and Future Choices Evening (13-10-15) as well as Parents Evening to see Mrs Ellis Connexions • Year 11 have parents evening (10-11-15) as well as 1:1 interviews with Mrs Ellis

Work Experience Why do it? • It provides an invaluable opportunity for students to learn about the world of work and it acts as an extension to the curriculum When (proposed date) • The placement is for one week starting Monday 20 th to Friday 24 th June 2016 – standard working hours to fit organisation.

Work Experience Aims and Objectives Work experience during the course of studies at the academy aims to achieve: • Development of student’s employability and key skills • Helps with their personal development, maturity and increase motivation to do well at the academy. • Helps to inform careers education and guidance (CEIAG).

  9. Work Experience Options for work experience • Students/parents organise their own work experience – will need a confirmation letter from employer on letter headed paper as well as parents accepting all responsibility for the placement • School organises work experience through EBP with a voluntary contribution of £9 from parents carers – they cover everything • No work experience remain in school on timetable
