  3. General Information High School Programs: • 50 of our CTE courses offer college credit out of the 76 different CTE courses offered. With Career Pathways in: • Agriculture/Horticulture • Construction/Manufacturing (Opening Construction Trades Program at Interlake ‐ Skill Center 2018‐19) • Arts, AV Technology & Communication • Business, Management & Administration • Education & Training • Health Sciences (Opening Dental Assisting Program at Sammamish – Skill Center 2018‐ 19) • Hospitality & Tourism • Human Services • Information Technology/Computer Science • Marketing, Sales and Service • Engineering (STEM) • Transportation • All pathways have Advisory Committees made up of industry experts and college representatives that meet throughout the year. (Opening Advisory CTE Kick‐Off Session – October 16 @ 5:00 p.m. – Rainier Room, please come!) • All CTE Programs provide leadership opportunities through DECA, SkillsUSA, ProStart, HOSA and other after school clubs. 3 • Certifications and College Credit through these programs create advancement in college and employment opportunities. • Training for AP Computer Science Principles will begin in the summer of 2018. General Information Middle School Programs: • Python 1 and 2 is now offered at ALL our middle schools. • Implementing CS Discoveries into Digital Technology (Pilot @ Tillicum). • Implementing PLTW ‐ Flight and Space at Tyee, Tillicum, and Highland. Odle piloted the program 2016‐17. CTE Program Work: • New ‐ College and Career Advisors at all our high schools. (Replacing Career Specialists) • Continue Professional Development training ‐ Special Education and inclusion of our special education population into our CTE, WANIC and Skill Center Programs. • Working with equity team to include equity training for teachers. Topic: What should students know to be successful in the workplace – Being Culturally Responsive. From school to work. • CTE continues to focus our attention on increasing girls and underrepresented students in all CTE programs. (Emphasis has been placed in Computer Science and STEM careers through advertising, field trips, breakfast and lunch meetings, and business community leaders involvement.) • Continue participation with Eastside College and Career Pathways. Piloted a field trip for underrepresented students (Data in presentation). • Sammamish High School pilot – Special Education and Underrepresented Students 4 attending Newport’s Culinary Arts Program. Racial Equity In May, the CTE Department in conjunction with the Equity Department took 29 Black and Hispanic Students on a WANIC Skill Center Field Trip to see the different career opportunities available within our district.
