CTE Today…
CTE Works for High School Students • CTE students graduate at a much • Combines academic, technical, higher rate than the statewide rate and “soft”/21st Century skills and learning • NMRPS CTE cohort graduation rate • CTE classes combine relevance is 100% and rigor • • Prepares learners for college 95.6% of secondary CTE students and careers were employed, in the military, or in postsecondary education or advanced training after graduation
CTE Prepares Students for Their Future CTE Concentration is based on Career Pathways • A CTE concentrator is a student who completes at least 4 CTE classes in a pathway/cluster and one must be a level 2 course • Allows students the opportunity to “try out” different career options but also allow a focus in a specific program area • Career awareness is increased and hopefully prevent students from changing majors in college or choosing a career choice not relative to their interest
