Humber Learning Consortium  Founded in 2002, Humber Learning Consortium (HLC) is primarily a fund management organisation working in the heart of the community.  HLC connects, develops, and supports organisations to access and deliver contracts that might ordinarily be out of their reach. HLC has an absolute commitment to disadvantaged learners and a  strong focus on the development of our delivery partners.  Although the majority of the funding we source is sub contracted within the local community, we recently began to deliver elements of learning ourselves HLC values  We believe in a team ethos where everyone works together, supporting each other and valuing the diversity that individuals bring from their own experiences and background We believe that learners should be at the heart of decision making   We strive for excellence in all we do  We believe in true co-production

  3. What is the This-Ability project? This-Ability is a £3.7m 4 year Lottery funded programme aimed at working with 500 young people with a disability, learning disability/difficulty or a long term health/mental health condition with a view to supporting them into sustainable employment.

  4. The eligibility criteria for this programme is: 18 – 29 years old • • Unemployed or economically inactive for a minimum of 6 months • Live in Hull or East Riding The outcomes: 200 (40%) of participants into paid jobs or apprenticeships • 400 (80%) will be ‘Good to Go’ by the end of the programme (successfully • completing all aspects of the employability passport) 80% of employers engaged will be certified Disability Confident •

  5. The Employability Passport This-Ability is based around guiding participants through the programme in order to achieve an Employability Passport. The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) 7 employability skills and 6 core capabilities will form the core of the passport:

Stage 1: Ready, Willing and Able  Following engagement, initial assessment and the drawing up of a development plan with their mentor, the young person will enter the ready, willing and able phase.  This phase offers holistic support and will focus on any barriers such as housing, debt, mental health issues etc.  It will also focus on supporting the development of key life skills such as self-confidence and aspirations.  6 core capabilities

  8. 6 Core Capabilities: • Reliability • Openness • Motivation • Self-Esteem • Resilience • Awareness of labour market

  9. Stage 2: World of Work  This is where the participant is referred to a Training Provider. It will be a formal programme of training incorporating the 7 CBI skills, to ensure the participant completes the employability passport and is ready for the next stage of the programme.  A participant will only exit this stage following the successful completion of all elements in their employability passport

  12. What is ? Making Our Business Yours MOBY is a free, unique and bespoke mentoring package available to employers when recruiting individuals from the This-Ability project who have disabilities/learning difficulties. The MOBY project was influenced by the PADD group (People’s Awareness of Disability Discrimination) and the work they do around promoting ability in the workplace. Talent Match recognised through PADD’s work that more needs to be done to support employers.
