The Central Role of the Advisor • Advisor supports each students’ growth: pastoral, spiritual and academic • Personal Growth scaffolded through the Marymount Advisor Curriculum • Small groups • 30 minutes four times per week with their Advisor • Advisor will partner closely together with you throughout the school year to ensure that your daughter thrives as a Marymount student • We are a first port of call for your daughter, if you or she has any queries. • Bridge between students and teachers to support your daughter’s success

The Advisor Curriculum – General Overview Semester 1 example focus topics • Curriculum designed to meet the Team Building – Middle School Camp social, emotional, spiritual and Growth Mindset mental needs of students, as well ICT Literacy skills (safe use of as to scaffold their approaches to technology) learning skills ATL skills –time management, • Broad focus topics for each week organizational skills, affective skills, across the school reflection, effective revision strategies • Individually tailored to the needs of Kindness Week the Grade and age of students Nutrition Week Advent

Example Advisor Lesson Activity – Reflective Journal • What are your goals this semester? • Reflecting on the growth mindset, how would you like to challenge yourself? • What strategies will you use for revision and time management? • Name a person you admire and give your reasons why. • Find a visual (photograph/graphic/idea) that encapsulates your feelings at this moment in time.

The Advisor Curriculum – FOCUS TOPIC EXAMPLE - For example: Nutrition Week November 2019 - Build on our understanding of our School Goal ‘that all may have life’ - World Food Day October – 16 th October - What is a balanced diet? - Nutritionist guest speaker, i.e. sports nutrition - Activity-based learning: ‘Healthier Lives’: teams prepare and pitch their own health products. Can they come up with the next health food craze?
