Illinois State Board of Education Guidance: Phase 4 In-person instruction strongly encouraged ● A high priority should be placed on providing in-person instruction for ● students who have individualized education programs (IEPs), 504 plans, and/or who receive English language supports when building an equitable D62 Back to School plan for 2020-2021 Districts must prepare for alternative structure to in-person for students with ● elevated health risks Districts must plan for return to remote instruction pending resurgence or ● second wave of the virus

Illinois State Board of Education Guidance: Phase 4 Follow Phase 4 IL Dept of Public Health guidelines which includes: ● Requiring use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) ○ including face coverings; Prohibiting more than 50 individuals from gathering in one space; ○ Requiring social distancing be observed, as much as possible; ○ Requiring that schools conduct symptom screenings and temperature ○ checks or require that individuals self-certify that they are free of symptoms before entering school buildings; and requiring an increase in schoolwide cleaning and disinfection

D62 Health and Safety Protocols Face coverings will be required for all staff and students ● PPE including masks and sanitizer will be provided to ALL staff ● Isolated waiting rooms have been identified in all facilities ● Limits will be placed on non-essential building visitors ● Symptoms Screenings and temperature checks will be required for visitors ● Social distancing will be required as much as possible in all areas ● There will be no gatherings of 50 or more individuals in one space ● Buses will be limited to a maximum of 50 people Purchasing sanitizers ● (including a sanitizing machine) Pleditional labor to keep schools/buildings clean ●

Transportation Protocols Only students who live 1.5 miles and beyond from their home school, ● who are required to transverse a state-identified hazardous crossing, or who are eligible for special transportation based on student needs will receive district transportation Routes will be created with a maximum number of 50 individuals on ● each bus Parents should complete the District 62 COVID -19 self-screener ● before their children board the bus and keep them home if they have any symptoms Student temperatures will be taken prior to a student boarding the bus ●

Option 2: Remote Learning Devices in homes for all students ● Hot spots for families without home wireless internet ● Familiar online learning tools: Zoom, Seesaw, Google Classroom ● Mid-July family survey ● 2,300+ parents responded of the approx 2,900 parents in D62 ○ 74% of families requesting in-person learning ○ 26% of families requesting remote learning ○

  18. Following tonight’s D62 Back to School presentation to the Board of Education and to our community, all families will receive a confirmation Google form on Enrollment July 21st. Confirmation Families will be asked to confirm each child’s enrollment in either the in-person option or in the remote learning option.

  19. Student Services

  20. Special Education and Individual Health Needs Student Services Department is currently developing plans for contacting ● parents of students with medical needs. Student Services Department is planning to deliver remote instruction, ● educational and health services if it is not safe for a student to return to school. It is likely that changes may be required as it relates to educational planning ● for many of our students including: Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) ○ 504 Plans ○ Individual Health Plans (IHP’s) ○

  21. Special Education and Individual Health Needs Instructional and Self-Contained Special Education Classrooms ● Social distancing may not be possible in all programs based on the needs of students. ○ Some of our intellectually disabled students will struggle to understand the concepts of ○ wearing masks and social distancing. For staff serving special education and medically fragile students, including related ○ services staff, the following will be emphasized: the use of appropriate PPE, ■ practice of social distancing as much as possible, ■ regular hand washing, sanitizing, cleaning and disinfecting, ■ limiting travel of itinerant staff, ■ discussing services that may need to be provided remotely to minimize risks ■ assessing needs and determining services for students on an case by case basis. ■

  22. Social Emotional Learning The District will be conducting an SEL needs assessment for individual students to ● determine supports, prior to students returning to school. The Student Services Department will be providing individuals with SEL and trauma ● responsive resources and interventions to help support students return to school including: Staff ○ Parents ○ Administration ○ Mental Health professionals ○ Behavior specialist support will be allocated across district to support students in ● crisis or in need of more intensive interventions and resources.

If Someone Tests Positive for COVID-19 Those tested positive for COVID-19 to stay home ● Possible cases of COVID-19 to be reported to school to initiate contact ● tracing Individuals do not return to school for 10 days after symptoms first appeared ● Individuals must be fever free for 72 hours, without the use of fever-reducing ● medications People who have had close contact with someone who tested positive for ● COVID-19 must isolate at home and monitor symptoms for 14 days
