ARTHURS MIDDLE SCHOOL: ATHLETICS
MISSION STATEMENT OF MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS The goal of middle school athletics is to serve as a laboratory for lessons learned from the home and in the classroom. We promote: Physical, mental and emotional health The connections between the student athlete, and his/her school Academic success Sportsmanship and respect from our athletes, coaches, and spectators Lifelong attitudes of dedication, hard work, team work, sportsmanship, respect for authority, and pride in self, team, school and community.
MISSION STATEMENT OF MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS To achieve these goals we encourage our student to participate in our interscholastic programs and to commit themselves to upholding a code of conduct that supports fun, fair, and safe play for all. SCHOOLS TO WATCH Developmental Responsiveness: Inter-Scholastic Sports with no “cuts” • Rationale: Every season there is a sport offered where any student that is interested in the sport may participate on the team. This allows students to try a sport they may otherwise never know if they had an interest. Social Equity: • Rationale: We believe these programs allow our students opportunities to be recognized in multiple ways. Students have the ability to be involved in the school and be recognized for their efforts even beyond the classroom.
