Southam and Windmill Hill : Archaeology update • In late March, Fusion the HS2 Area Central Enabling Works Contractor, will start the archaeological investigation work. This will involve excavating trenches and recording any finds • The Southam site is located on the south-western outskirts : Access to the site will be along Leamington Road, Kineton Road and Banbury Road. • The Windmill Hill site will be accessed along Windmill Hill. • This work will be carried out by Connect, Fusion’s archaeology subcontractor. The investigations will be done by small teams of archaeologists assisted by an excavator. There will be a maximum of two teams on each site. • These works are scheduled to complete by the end of June 2020. • An Advanced Works Notice has been issued to the Community with further details for each site
Archaeological Trial Trench • Trial Trenches are undertaken at pre identified locations • Further investigation works are undertaken within the trial trench at encountered locations of interest • Archaeological works are then planned to investigate the area further based upon initial findings

Fencing to the south of the B4451 Kineton Road • Works are due to commence in the area from the start of April 2020 until mid June • 8.5km of fencing required • A compound will be established utilising the former Cubbington Saw Mills site at Harp Farm, with direct access to the A423 Banbury Road • The fencing to be installed is typically stock proof fencing with agricultural gates • Public Rights of Way are incorporated into the design
Fencing to the north of the B4451 to the A425 • Works are due to commence in this area from late March to the end of April 2020 • 2km of fencing required • A compound will be established alongside the A425 Leamington Road. This site access is subject to highway authority approval • The fencing to be installed is typically stock proof fencing with agricultural gates • Public Rights of Way are incorporated into the design

TBM Utilities Works • Installation of ducting along Bascote Road is ongoing and will be finished mid-March 2020. • Cabling works will follow after to duct installation has been completed. - By June 2020 • Welsh Road will close from mid- February to mid-March to allow for installation of 11kv cable. • Bascote Road will close from mid- February to mid-April to allow for installation of 11kv cable. • The B4452 will close from mid- March to mid-May to allow for installation of 11kv cable.

Main compounds What to expect First main compounds: • 6-months work to establish the compound Long Itchington Wood • We will erect hoardings / fencing around the Compound to ensure the site is safe and Occupancy from November 2019 • secure. Programme of activity • First delivery of components for the Tunnel Boring machine(TBM) will be delivered to the compound from August 2020. • TBM initial delivery at North Portal using the A425 Leamington Road via the upgraded Ridgeway Lane to the compound. • TBM ready to bore from December 2020, with approximate one years of tunnelling to follow . • Breakthrough bore 1 at South Portal / Polo Club • TBM to be transferred fromSouth Portal to North Portal using the A425 Leamington Road. • About 12 week period to transport and reassembly the entireTBM back to launch. • Breakthrough bore 2 at South Portal/ Polo Club.
