Businesses Certified/Recertified In FY 2015: 38 New businesses certified 18 businesses recertified 19 businesses recertified for the second time 1 business recertified for the third time The criteria for certification increases with each recertification as businesses need to show continuous improvement and remain in compliance with environmental regulations. Certification is driven by the business and can take anywhere from a month to a year. Recertification challenges include businesses closing, personnel changes, and other factors.
Environmental Scorecard FY 15 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Saved Green businesses have saved 425,475,123 lbs. of CO2 with a total savings of $723,308 . That’s the equivalent of planting 10,224 acres of urban trees!
Environmental Scorecard FY 15 Solid Waste Diverted from Landfills Green businesses have saved 144,269,093 lbs. of waste with a total savings of $9,687,670 . That’s the equivalent of 9,017 garbage trucks worth of diverted waste!
Environmental Scorecard FY 15 Energy Saved Green businesses have saved 161,208,895 kWh with a total savings of $16,333,685 . That’s the equivalent of powering 14,795 houses for an entire year!
Environmental Scorecard FY 15 Water Saved Green businesses have saved 49,433,716 gallons of water, with a total savings of $155,469 . That’s the equivalent of 141 bathtubs of fresh drinking water per hour.
Environmental Scorecard FY 15 Fuel Saved Green businesses have saved 1,950 gallons of fuel per year, with a total savings of $7,488 . That’s the equivalent of taking 3 cars off the road.

Cost and Funding Green Business FY 2015 cost of program was approximately $160,000 (higher in current FY due to $20,000 advertising from SCVWD). FY 2015 received $82,666 from SCVWD and remaining funds came from Solid Waste Planning Fee. SCVWD funding approved for $200,000 total over the next three years (FY17-19) – focus on South County and businesses along riparian areas. CA Green Business Network has been seeking grant funding through Cap and Trade grants
