Businesses Certified/Recertified In FY 2018, 83 businesses were certified/recertified: 28 new businesses certified 18 businesses recertified 24 businesses recertified for the 2 nd time 12 businesses recertified for the 3 rd time 1 business recertified for the 4 th time The criteria for certification increases with each recertification as businesses need to show continuous improvement and remain in compliance with environmental regulations. Certification is driven by the business and can take anywhere from a month to a year. Recertification challenges include businesses closing, personnel changes, and other factors.

Environmental Scorecard FY 18 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Saved Green businesses have saved 53,871 tons of CO2 with a total savings of $183,161 . That’s the equivalent of planting 167,477 acres of urban trees!
Environmental Scorecard FY 18 Solid Waste Diverted from Landfills Green businesses have saved 7,323 tons of waste with a total savings of $983,514 .
Environmental Scorecard FY 18 Energy Saved Green businesses have saved 112,507,649 kWh with a total savings of $11,399,376 . That’s the equivalent of powering 10,325 houses for an entire year!
Environmental Scorecard FY 18 Water Saved Green businesses have saved nearly 20 MILLION gallons of water, with a total savings of $62,226 .

Cost and Funding Green Business FY 2018 cost of program was approximately $157,000 FY 2018 received $66,666 from SCVWD, $5,000 from PG&E and remaining funds came from Solid Waste Planning Fee. CA Green Business Network received $1 million budget line item from CalEPA $20,000 to each existing jurisdiction, including us Remaining funds for supporting new programs, marketing, updating checklists, data & tech support 9 Bay Area Green Business received $49,871 from ABAG Revamp restaurant and winery checklist Swag prizes to incentivize certified businesses to promote Green Business Program Window clings, rack cards, certificate design, etc. Covers next three years for Bay Area program coordination
