  1. AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES OFFERED AT LFT SCIENCE ACTIVITIES Mad Science 2 - NASA ACADEMY OF FUTURE SPACE EXPLORERS (Grade 1 – Grade 5) – in English We’ve teamed up with NASA to take children on a voyage of discovery! With unique hands-on activities, amazing demonstrations, and fun experiments, this experience is truly out of this world. Children will build fun and educational take home projects to fuel their future explorations! Weekly Topics will include: Space Travel, Space Phenomena, Sun & Stars, Rocket Science I & II, Atmosphere & Beyond, Space Technology, and Living in Space Mad Science 1- YOUNG EXPLORERS (JK - SK) – in English These fun, hands-on, one-hour science programs spark imaginative learning. Children engage in exciting hands-on activities, watch spectacular demonstrations, and participate in inquiry-based discussion and take home things that they have made themselves. Topics include: Bugs, Digging for Dinos, Animal Friends, Human Body, Listen Closely, C hanging Seasons,… MUSICAL ACTIVITY MUSIC – INSTRUMENTAL (Grade 6 - Grade 7) – in English Open to players of any wind or string instrument. Beginner and intermediate levels. Students will have the experience of being in an instrumental ensemble, playing a range of musical styles from jazz to classical to pop/rock. This club is an excellent way to enriches and deepens the musical practice of students already in college. *Students will need to rent or buy their own instruments which are available at a number of music stores throughout the city.

  2. ART ACTIVITIES ART 1 (PK – SK) – In English Little kids find art interesting through a playful and fun process. What makes their creativity shine through? It is the vibrant colours, cool textures and patterns, imaginative sculptures, interesting shapes, and whimsical paintings. Children will explore hands-on art and crafts using traditional, fun and exciting materials. They will focus on the creative process using their imagination and creativity. This course is all about taking one step closer to art, being together with their classmates, and loving art! ART 2 (Grade 1 – Grade 3) – in English A truly unique course that allows students the opportunity to work with exciting mediums including wood, fabric, clay, paint, and many more. Students will discover different art techniques, play with a variety of materials, and create interesting compositions. During this course, students will also gain an in depth knowledge of colour theory to enhance their 2D and 3D creations. This course offers children the freedom to explore their own artistic skills at a young age. ART 3 (Grade 3 - grade 5) - in French The visual arts club is a place where children can develop their artistic skills by opening their imaginations. Different techniques and activities will be explored: paper maché, painting on wood, drawing (pastels, charcoal, etc … ), and collage. Some finished works of art will be displayed within the school. VARIOUS ACTIVITIES PERFORMING ARTS (Grade 4 – Grade 5) - in English Do you enjoy singing, acting and dancing? The Junior Performing Arts Group is for you! From September-March we will stage a Kids version of a Broadway musical “ The Music Man kids ” complete with sets, costumes, lights and sound! Unleash your inner star and be a part of the Junior Performing Arts Group! * From September to March (25 students maximum)

  3. ORIGAMI (Grade 1 - Grade 5) - in French Origami is the heart of paper folding using geometric concepts. A finished piece of art is shaped through folding and sculpting techniques which will be taught to children. Origami: - develops artistic taste and creativity in children - enhances attention and focus - improve the capacity to listen - stimulates logical thinking - reinforces special visualization MATHLAND (Grade 2 - Grade 5) - in French Boost their mathematical mind! Thanks to our educative board games, in French and specifically adapted to all intellectual levels, children will improve their logical thought, their spatial visualisation and their level in algebra, while playing! Your child will be spontaneously pushed to think more thanks to our challenging games and the competition he/she will take part with the other kids. CODING 1 (Grade 3 – Grade 5) – in English Hatch Club – students will learn the basics of coding in a fun and engaging way. They will select Hatch projects that appeal to them and learn to create their own versions by creating and placing shapes, applying colours, placing objects on the screen, etc. CODING 2 (Grade 6 – Grade 8) – in English Hatch Club – in addition to the basics, students will start to learn the foundation of code including conditionals, loops, arrays, objects and variables. CARTOONING (Grade 4 – Grade 5) – in English Imaginations come alive in this animated course with a focus on cartooning basic skills and concepts. Cartoon characters, creatures, animals and magical beasts are all part of the mix. So are funny faces, outrageous bodies, and the many dynamic actions and unique stories that go along with our newly created characters. Short comic books and flip books are part of our wonderful projects.

  4. INGENIOUS CRAFT (Grade 1 – Grade 5) – in French Your children will be guided through great manual projects that will develop their skills and their savoir-faire, while discovering intuitively basic concepts of physics. Indeed, this craft activity does not only aim at designing aesthetical models, but also at constructing ingenious models that are based on a specific mechanism that triggers automatic effects, such as an elastic power car or a popsicle stick gun. Each single child will naturally go back home with his/her piece of art! POKEMON MADNESS (GS – Grade 4) – in English Welcome into the wonderful and never-ending World of Pokemon ! This multi-media art class will create Pokemon and Chaotic characters/locations/trading cards and much more! Lots of take- home souvenirs! Don’ t miss out on this fun class! CHESS & Co. (Grade 1 - Grade 7) – in French Chess is the most famous strategic head to head board game. We want to invite your child to test a large collection of original head to head board games, such as Go, Linja, Abalone, Kamisado, etc., which help develop a genius mindset and where only your reflection will lead to victory! PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES BALL HOCKEY (Grade 3 – Grade 5) – in English Play based learning. Strong focus on skill development and general knowledge needed to participate in floor hockey: stick handling, passing, shooting… Floor hockey gives our students a chance to develop skills while having fun. This club also provides extra practice towards the involvement of students in a ball hockey tournament each year. SOCCER 1 (SK - Grade 2) – in English Strong focus on skill development and general knowledge needed to participate in soccer: dribbling, ball control, shooting, passing… Students take part in various lead up skills and games to improve ability in the sport. Most sessions end with a friendly gameplay.

  5. SOCCER 2 (Grade 3 – Grade 5) – in English Play based learning. Strong focus on skill development, with improved understanding of gameplay and rules. This club also gives our students extra practice towards the involvement in a soccer tournament each year. Soccer is offered year round with outdoor gameplay at Fairbanks Park and indoor in the school gym. PING PONG (Grade 3 - Grade 5) - in English Ping pong club provides students with a chance to develop skills and have fun. Students play various games to improve in ability while keeping play exciting and challenging. BALLET (PK – Grade 1) - in English This course introduces students to the wonderful world of ballet! Students will explore the dynamic relationship between music and dance/ballet. Great for creative expression and music appreciation! Short class showcase for parents in the final class. *Kids should wear ballet slippers and ballet costumes YOGA (PK – Grade 2) - in English This integrated and holistic program of yoga instruction that combines singing, postures, dynamic movements, simple breath exercises, meditation and deep relaxation with yoga activities that children enjoy. It promotes young children’s mental & physical health as well as encourages their creative imagination & self- expression. It develops body awareness, language, good listening skills, co-operation and powers of observation. It teaches them about nature and their environment. HIP HOP (Grade 1 – Grade 5) - in English This class teaches the fundamentals of hip hop movement. They are upbeat and high energy classes. Stretching, isolation, rhythms, musicality, upper body strength and funky footwork will all be incorporated. Students will learn to memorize choreography by working on a combination each class. Students will be given rules to follow directions, work well in a team and encourage each other to be positive. It is a great way to get kids moving!! Parents will have a chance to see the final dance during a recital.
