  9. Wivey Link provides a door to door transport service for everyone in Wiveliscombe and its surrounding parishes. For anyone who needs to get to somewhere local or into Taunton or Wellington. Rates are very reasonable and Bus Pass holders receive a concessionary rate. 3 of our 4 cars are wheelchair friendly. Wivey Link Harnessing the Power of Volunteers

Wivey Link – key points  Wivey Link is a division of Wiveliscombe Area Partnership, registered Charity No. 1132983.  Inaugurated in 2004 with the aim to combat rural isolation and enhance the lives of those who do not readily have access to transport.  Based in Wiveliscombe we cover all of the local Parishes, plus Taunton and Wellington.  Available to all, of any age, we cover any transport needs from essential hospital appointments to social/recreational visits.   11. Wivey Link – key points (cont’d)  Our 35 drivers are all volunteers. On average they contribute over 5,000 driving hours annually. Without their goodwill, Wivey Link would not be able to operate.  Scheduling is carried out by Jill Goodwin, our Wivey Link Co-ordinator who is employed on a part time basis. Jill is responsible for all planning, communication, vehicle maintenance and volunteer recruitment to maintain the service. Harnessing the Power of Volunteers

Summary - Wivey Link Operations  We have four vehicles:  2 Citroen Dispatch 5 seats with w/c or 7 less w/c  1 Renault Kangoo (ex-motability) 2 seats with w/c  1 Fiat QUBO 4 seats, recently acquired  All have to be RED!  Easy access for latest models of electric wheel-chairs.  Modifications by Courtside Conversions Ltd, Tiverton.  Updated scheduling operating system from Shaunsoft  Full IT support and backup service by professional Taunton company (BootUP PC) Harnessing the Power of Volunteers

Fundraising and donations – how do we do it?  Fetes, fairs and markets across the 10 parishes  We take a stall, shake tins and maybe show a car  Annual registration forms with donations ‘box’  Funerals and Legacy requests  Rounding up of fares  “keep the change” or “buy yourself a cup of tea dear”  Most local Wivey shops have a donation tin by the till  Events – quizzes, social gatherings, parties etc  Sponsored events by Rotary Club and Jim Laker Fund  Jazz evenings at Cotleigh Brewery  Sale of books, tickets, maps from Community Office  Website donations through Paypal Harnessing the Power of Volunteers

A new project Artist in Residence - Briony Goffin A tribute to Wivey Link, its Drivers, the Passengers and the Journeys it makes.  This project will seek to reveal what makes Wivey Link a unique and exemplary provision for combating rural isolation, through documenting the voices, stories and experiences of those who rely on and run the service. The plan  To spend time alongside drivers and passengers.  To engage with passengers in conversations about Wivey Link, their experiences, anecdotes and what the service means to them.  To create written and audio documentation plus photographs.  To produce a pamphlet and audio CD, detailing the origins and vision of Wivey Link, transcripts of interviews, observations etc.  To be made available in the Community Office, libraries, shops, local press, 10 radio and many other outlets. The legacy  To raise the profile of Wivey Link.  To attract new passengers.  To attract new volunteer drivers.  To attract funding/sponsorship/donations.  To serve as a meaningful written & audio archive for future generations and other interested parties. We are the home of the 10 Parishes Festival & Street Market Last year between Saturday 5th & Sunday 13th September 2015 Over 100 artists, performers & crafts people took part in this nine day Festival event offering a range of cultural experiences you would not usually expect in such a rural area. All types of disciplines represented from painting & textiles, photography, jewellery, ceramics, sculpture & stone carving. The 10 Parishes Festival is held bi-annually. The Street Market & Carnival are held on an annual basis. Why not become a Friend of the Festival?
