Cities that Care, Cities that SHARE The SHARE Project a european resettlement network for cities and regions Co-financed by the European Commission
WHAT IS SHARE? • Programme to build a network of European regions, cities, municipalities & their civil society partners who are involved in &/or with a commitment to refugee resettlement, protection & integration • SHARE Network launched in March 2012; second phase of network development March 2014 – October 2015 Co-financed by the European Commission
WHY A SHARE NETWORK? Choosing to receive resettled refugees is a national government decision, but the success of national resettlement programmes depends on regional and local actors: • making places available for resettled refugees in local communities; • providing reception and integration support that meets the needs of resettled refugees; and • creating welcoming local communities in which resettled refugees can settle and thrive. The SHARE Network therefore: • provides a platform for peer learning and best practice exchange between local and regional resettlement/integration actors in Europe; • facilitates exchange of experience between local/regional actors in experienced resettlement countries, and those planning or considering resettlement; and • ensures the inclusion of local and regional actors in the wider European Resettlement Network. Co-financed by the European Commission
