LE BARP : It’s so good here… A CITY, A TERRITORY Le Barp is a municipality of the South West of France, located in the region of New Aquitaine, more precisely in the Department of Gironde. It is located in the Landes Forest, on the Landes de Gas- cogne Regional Natural Park territory. Le Barp is on the way from Tours to Santiago de Compostela and many pilgrims go through Le Barp every year. Le Barp hosts 5410 inhabitants. « Le Barp has a special geographic position because it is located between Bor- deaux and Arcachon Bay. » AN ECONOMIC CENTRE IN EXPANSION Le Barp has a well-maintained and highly valued large forest heritage. The town is in line with a dynamic generated by the activities zone ZAE Eyrialis which is managed by the Community of Municipalities of the Val de l’Eyre. It offers a strategic position halfway between Bordeaux and Arcachon, close to the A63 highway, to the airport (38 kilometres/23.598 miles), and to the Laser Mejagoule at the CEA-CESTA Center. Laseris Park, located in the Municipality of Le Barp, which is very close to CEA- CESTA large lasers and the Laser and Plasma Institute, welcomes the important in- dustrialists which support the Laser Megajoule, but it welcomes also high technology companies or leading companies in their market. AN ACTIVE TRADE To address the needs of the inhabitants, Le Barp offers many convenience stores and supermarkets. The local market is on every Sunday morning and it’s a great place for meeting and exchange. 2
LE BARP : It’s so good here… CHILDHOOD AND EDUCATION In Le Barp, more than 700 students attend the different The city has 5 schools : educational institutions. - 2 nursery schools - 3 elementary schools SECONDARY AND HIGH SCHOOLS IN LE BARP The Department decided to implant a se- condary school which should accommo- date between 600 and 700 students. Meanwhile, the region is commitued to opening a high school which should accom- modate 900 students for the 2022 school year. « Early childhood is a key priority for the city . Then, it tries to find an appropriate solution for each family, such as collective or individual reception of children, on a regular or occasional basis. » To make family arrangement easier, a structure multi-host and a Relay Assistants Nursery offer a reception for 3 months old chil- dren who enter nursery school. « Children and young people reception, their education and personal development are a priority for our city. » Extracurricular tjme : Extended Day Programs help families to conciliate professional life, personal life and school schedules at the same tjme. - A meetjng point for young people - Extended Day Programs - Play centers without accommodatjon 3
