Attendance at BFS _____________________________________ • Target is 97% attendance for every student • Award for 98+% (bronze, silver and gold) • Aim for 100%! • No ‘duvet days!’ • Attendance and progress statistics - 90% attendance = 1 month absence each year - 91% attendance has been shown to lead to a drop in one GCSE grade

The Tutorial Programme __________________________________ Daily half hour sessions are used to deliver a diverse range of high quality tutorial topics designed to develop… • Well-rounded students • Emotional and social well-being to complement academic curriculum • A holistic approach – the BFS core values Current Year 7 topics: • mindset, anti-bullying, literacy and numeracy, portraiture and identity, emotional resilience, e-safety

Tutor Groups _____________________________________ • Students are taught in their tutor groups • There is gradual and broad setting across key stage three • Over 60% of subjects set by ability by the end of year 9 • In year 7, setting occurs in Maths from the start of term 1, based on prior attainment in KS2 SATs • Reviewed regularly (at each assessment point) to ensure students are working at the appropriate level
