Workshop background • Regional coordination of measures  Strengthen the implementation of BSAP  Support EU Member States under MSFD • Regional documentation for use be EU Member States for reporting of programmes of measures • Starting point:  HELCOM acquis and its implementation: gap analysis  Planned national measures: analysis of opportunities for coordination  Ongoing HELCOM work in support of coordination of measures  Actions still needed for regional coordination and progress on achieving good status of the Baltic Sea ecosystems

Workshop purpose • Finalising proposals for actions still needed  „new“ actions, i.e. forward looking perspective: Case ‐ by ‐ case decision on what is „new“ or „existing“  „measures“, i.e. focussing on activites that directly steer human activities: monitoring, research, assessment are not „measures“  Proposed actions not yet agreed in HELCOM require approval by HOD • „Coordination“  Coordination of national measures  Regional measures (e.g. HELCOM Recommendations)  Sub ‐ regional measures  Concerted actions in relation to third parties (e.g. IMO, EU, third countries)
