Workforce Development Council Update Military and Veteran Affairs Committee (M-VAC) What is M-VAC and its purpose? The Military & Veteran Affairs Committee is a Workforce Development Council (WDC) standing committee that provides a forum for transition program leaders and stakeholders to explore job transition issues and solutions unique to veterans, service members and their spouses, National Guard and Reserve members. The committee’s focus is to influence policy development through the enactment of solutions that reduce transition barriers. What is WDC and its purpose? The Workforce Development Council is an advisory commission on employment and human resources and was established by Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) Chapter 202 to fulfill the functions of the state workforce development board for purposes of the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. The Council is comprised of 41 members from the public and private sectors, selected by the Governor on the basis of member’s interest in and knowledge of workforce development programs in Hawaii.
