Looking ahead for Washington WIC  Still unclear what reopening will look like  We are working on plans as quickly as we can  We have plenty of food and administration funds to keep WIC operating smoothly  Food supplies are stable  Stores are open  WIC is open and proving that remote services WORK!  State budget is tight.   14. Food Updates Food item Rationale • Eggs In the early days of COVID there was wide spread shortages of eggs. We expanded the list to include brown, cage free and organic eggs. Many • Allowed: brown, cage free and clients are now buying these foods and they are widely organic eggs available. Removing them at this point in time would cause confusion for retailors and participants. • Not allowed: Pasture raised • and eggs with Omega-3 and or We didn’t add Pasture raised and eggs with Omega-3 and or DHA due to DHA cost and limited availability. • Yogurt We added Greek yogurt due to requests for this product and to increase buying options for participants. • Allowed: Greek yogurt • • Whole milk yogurt for children We didn’t add organic yogurt due to some products being very high cost. age 1 or participants with a MDF for whole milk yogurt • Not allowed: Organic yogurt • Milk We didn’t add organic milk due to cost. • • Not allowed: Organic milk and We didn’t add A2 milk because the container size is only 59 oz. High Risk Designation in Cascades  Currently Active status at time the report is run.  Designated as high risk • At certification, the participant has a nutrition risk that puts them in a high risk status. • At certification, the participant isn’t high risk based on the nutrition risk(s) selected. Using professional discretion, the certifier selects the “High Risk” radio button on the Certification Summary screen before selecting the Certify button. • Participant wasn’t certified as high risk, however, a nutrition risk was identified later in the certification that designates a high risk status. HR Appointment Types  Three RD appointment types: • Registered Dietitian (RD) • MSS-RD • Nutrition Education–RD (NE-RD)  Cascades doesn’t decipher: • If appointment completed was really an RD appointment. • If staff use the RD appointment types for other types of appointments for the RD. • If a high risk care plan was actually written in the participant’s file .
