Curriculum reform update : the EBacc • Greater emphasis placed on the EBacc combination of subjects (English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science (double award or separate sciences), a Modern Language, History/Geography) • Government expectation that a large proportion of students will take the set of EBacc subjects at GCSE
How are we preparing students for this? • Increased time for History, Geography and Languages in Years 7-9 • Lots of support to help students develop independent study skills: Show My Homework, Ready to Learn club, learning things off by heart, developing revision techniques • Focus on developing students’ literacy • ‘Formal’ assessments every 6 weeks in every subject • Y7, 8 & 9 exams in English, maths and science
