What Happens in AVID? The AVID program at BHS has three parts… • Students receive academic instruction in writing and the following: notetaking , studying , time management , test taking , & organization • Students receive academic support: tutors / tutorial , collaborative groups , and peer counseling • Students are motivated to pursue academic excellence: college field trips , classroom guest speakers , and AVID team building
What Can AVID Do For You? If you join the AVID program at BHS, AVID will… • Teach you study and organizational skills. • Give you tutorial help through college tutors . • Teaches you to work collaboratively to be successful in the most rigorous courses. • Takes you to visit colleges and universities in both Northern and Southern California . • Assists you with the application process for four year colleges and universities. • Helps you explore careers through guest speakers .
