Options: Used books, save 25%: Great option for books that you think you will want to keep. These copies go fast, so order early before they sell out. Rental books, save up to 80%: Fantastic option, especially for general ed classes that you will not want to keep as reference in your later career. Rented books can be highlighted in, as long as there is no water or spinal damage to the book. Digital Books, save up to 60%: Great cost and weight saver. Robust study and note-taking tools built into the software. Becoming more popular every year.
MavReserve Program: Every year we provide more than $20,000 in textbooks to the library for the MavReserve Program. These are commonly used textbooks that can be checked out for two hours at a time. The MavReserve program can provide a bridge for students who are unable to purchase all of their textbooks at once so that they don’t fall behind in the class. See the library for the complete list of what books are available this semester.
Price Match: We match prices with BN.com and Amazon.com. No third party or marketplace sellers. For example, we will not match a listing that shows “Sold By XYZ Books, Fulfilled by Amazon”. Those are people using the Amazon or BN.com marketplaces to sell their own copies. The match has to be for the exact same item and condition. First Day™ Our newest cost-saving option! We work with interested professors to provide digital course materials directly to students. The materials are available through D2L on the first day of class. The cost is included in the course tuition and fees, so there is nothing that you need to order. We provide digital books at a significant savings compared to the normal retail price. The courses using the First Day TM model have saved students $589,000 in total over the course of one year! These courses will have a note on the textbook page letting you know that there is nothing you need to order.
How to Reserve Your Books After registering for your classes: Go to mnsu.edu and find the link for E-services Log into E-services using your StarID Click “Order Textbooks” in the list of links on the left A list of books Choose your for your options: classes will Buy or Rent pop up. New, Used or Digital Enter your payment information (credit card, financial aid, gift cards, etc). We start processing orders in late July. Your books can be either picked up at the store when classes start or shipped to your home.
