What is College Avenue Compact? Guaranteed Admission to SDSU • Guaranteed admission to San Diego State University (SDSU) for Hoover students who meet certain requirements. • A unique agreement for Hoover High School students only. • Eligibility begins with continuous enrollment at Hoover High School in grades 9-12.
CAC Requirements • Must be enrolled at Hoover for all 4 years (grades 9-12) • Be college ready in Math & English using EAP, SAT, ACT • Complete the 15 “A - G” requirements with grades of “C” or higher • Obtain a 3.0 GPA in all A-G courses • Take the SAT or ACT Tests • Meet all SDSU admission and enrollment deadlines NOTE: College Avenue Compact DOES NOT guarantee admission to majors with additional requirements such as: Nursing, Music, Dance, and Theater Arts: Performance

UC Application Requirements • Apply online by November 30 http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu • Meet minimum 3.0 GPA and complete A-G course requirements • Take the SAT Reasoning OR ACT by December • Take the SAT Subject Tests (not required, but highly recommended) • Extracurricular activities (athletics, community service, school clubs) • Personal Insight Questions (start working on it NOW) • Application Fee Waiver available online (up to 4 schools)
CSU Application Requirements • Apply online by November 30, www.calstate.edu/apply • Meet the minimum 2900 Eligibility Index with SAT or 694 with ACT and complete A-G course requirements – SAT score in math and critical reading + (800 x GPA) – (10 x ACT) + (200 x GPA) • Take the SAT Reasoning by Nov OR ACT by Oct/Dec • Application Fee Waiver available online (up to 4 schools)
Community College Applications • Apply online starting February 2018 • No SAT or ACT tests required (recommended for placement) • English and Math placement test required (Accuplacer) • No application fees • Community College Kick-Off event in February!

Helpful Tips for Seniors • Don’t wait ‘til last min to complete/submit college apps • Have a counselor, teacher or CAC advisor review your college and financial aid applications BEFORE YOU SUBMIT! • Make sure you hit SUBMIT on your applications and check to make sure that you got an email confirmation • Have a back-up plan: Apply to SDSU AND non-competitive schools
Helpful Tips for Seniors • Apply for Financial Aid early (Oct. 1-March 2) • No D/F’s in ANY senior year course • Create a file for college related websites/passwords • Check your college student portals on a weekly basis • Request letters of recommendation EARLY and include a resume • Check your email at least ONCE a day!!!
