WEEK 7 Winning with People
I believe that if you are out of the “ PEOPLE BUSINESS”… you are out of the MINISTRY .
1. In a world of sarcasm and put-down’s, dare to be a frog – kisser .
MaFhew 16:13-18 Simon = “li<le pebble ;” Peter = “big boulder ”
Look past a person’s “ WARTS ”…to see the ROYALTY that is buried deep inside of them if they receive… “ THE KISS OF ENCOURAGEMENT .”
Your God-given assignment will always be more to a PERSON than to a PROGRAM .
2. By simple ACTS OF FRIENDSHIP , make people WANT the Christ you serve.
“We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God's Good News but our own lives, too.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8 (NLT)
“She built a BRIDGE from her heart to mine. And today, I let JESUS WALK OVER IT.”
3. Learn to LISTEN…deeply.
“Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughSul listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words) and slow to anger [paVent, reflecVve, forgiving].” James 1:19 (Amplified Version)
“The road to the HEART is always through the EARS.” — Voltaire
4. Intenbonally choose to CHANGE some people’s “TAGS.”
Jesus came back, “God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah!”… And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock!” (MaFhew 16…Excerpts from verses 13-18)
5. Idenbfy your “Paul Revere’s” (your INFLUENCERS)… And give them extra RELATIONAL INVESTMENT.
“ At daybreak, Jesus called together His followers and chose twelve of them to be the inner circle of His disciples.” Luke 6:13 (Living Bible)
“Jesus now called the Twelve and gave them authority and power to deal with all the demons and cure diseases. He commissioned them to preach the news of God’s kingdom and to heal the sick. He said, ‘Don’t load yourselves up with equipment.
Keep it simple; you are the equipment. And no luxury inns—get a modest place and be content there unVl you leave. If you’re not welcomed, leave town. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and move on.’” Luke 9:1-5 (The Message)
6. Have the guts to put WORDS to your AFFECTION.
“Gracious speech is like honey— good taste to the soul and quick energy for the body.” Proverbs 16:24 (The Message)
“ Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. SAY ONLY WHAT HELPS, each word a GIFT.” Ephesians 4:29 (The Message)
Swallow your pride and… INTENTIONALLY speak words of genuine affecVon and encouragement. Be<er yet, DITCH THE SARCASM.
“There should not be obscenity, foolish talk or COARSE JOKING …” Ephesians 5:4 (NIV)
7. Create an environment where FAILURE is not FATAL.
“The chief job of a leader is to teach people how to FAIL INTELLIGENTLY .” — Charles F. Ke<ering
“Do not rejoice over me, my enemy! Though I may fall, I WILL ARISE .” Micah 7:8
8. Consciously realize you are “wribng your own epitaph”…So live that you might be described aier your promobon as “JESUS WITH SKIN ON.”
