  3. Survey of Pomeranian farmers  Preparation of an electronic database based on  collected questionnaires and interviews with farmers Creation of professional expertise defining the  energy potential of the region Implementation of GIS digital maps with the  locations of future biogas plants in Pomeranian Region

  4.  Training of 1000 Pomeranian farmers (lectures, workshops, conferences and working demonstrations of agricultural biogas plants)  Study trip of selected 50 Pomeranian farmers to Trelleborg in Sweden  Promotion of the project - development and delivery information leaflets, training materials, gadgets, publication of articles in the press

  5.  PAEC organized and supervised surveys of selected 640 farmers in 16 Pomeranian provinces  Goal: – evaluation of potential interest in biogas production – energy resource assessment for biogas production at the disposal of farmers

  6.  Biomass (energy crops)  Manure  Organic waste (vegetable, animal waste: from farm, garden, kitchen, food industry)

  7. Biomass Biogas Electric energy Thermal energy (waste) Bioethanol Thermal energy (biomass boilers)

  8. 1 MW biogas plant - corn of about 500 ha

  9. According to the Electric Power Development Program which includes Renewable Energy Sources in the Pomeranian Region for 2025 150 biogas plants with an electrical capacity of 0.5 MW are planned to be build  The potential for biogas production in the Region is 217 million m³ per year Currently - only 5 agricultural biogas plants work in the Pomeranian Region

  10.  Type of animals: cattle, pigs, poultry  Theoretical potential: 70 455.4 thous. m ³/ year  Technical potential: 44 314.2 thous. m ³/ year  Total value of electricity: 283 345MWh

  13. The greatest potential for substrate usage for biogas production, reported by farmers in Pomeranian districts: Wejherowo - about 22 million m³ / year, the dominant substrate: crops 1. Malbork - about 19 million m³ / year, the dominant substrate: manure 2. 3. Slupsk - about 17 million m³ / year, the dominant substrate: crops 4. Gdansk - about 11 million m³ / year, the dominant substrate: manure 5. Tczew - about 10 million m³ / year, the dominant substrate: manure

  15.  Total potential of biogas production (expressed in GWh) depending on the type of substrates █ - municipa pal waste █ - energy y crops ps █ - manure 

  16.  areas - part of the Natura 2000 network  nature reserves  areas of national parks and their surroundings  terrain parks (landscape parks) as part of Natura 2000  floodplains, and areas of flood  built-up areas  Natural obstacles: forests, lakes, rivers  Locations too distant to the substrate (transportation costs make the plant unfeasible)

  18. 1. Pomeranian Region has a significant and unused potential for biogas production 2. Biogas substrates are highly dispersed 3. PAEC analysis of manure shows that in total dispersed sources have much more potential than large farms 4. It is advisable to build small agricultural biogas plants in the region

  19. 5. Biogas plant locations should steer clear of flooded and protected natural areas (hence reduce investment risk) 6. Pomeranian farmers should establish plantations of wetlands on agricultural wasteland and use the limnic plants as an addition to the biogas substrates 7. Substrates located farther than 30 km from the biogas plant are unprofitable due to transportation costs

  20. 8. Construction of agricultural biogas plants will have a big impact on the growth of production of electricity and heat from renewable sources in Pomeranian Region 9. Biogas production will contribute to the diversification of the agricultural income 10. In the future agricultural biogas plants will be treated as priority investments 11. Development of biogas production depends on the effectiveness of promotional and educational campaigns and financial conditions
