Vodice EXCURSIONS, LOCAL EVENTS, ACTIVITIES Thanks to it’s ideal geographical position and local tradition, Vodice always had a great choice of daily excursions. One can choose between boat excursions and bus excursions, adventurous ones can go biking or hiking, or you can just take a long walk on the promenade and visit one of the surrounding places and attractions... Two national parks (Kornati islands and Krka waterfalls) are in the same county and can be easily reached by excursion boats, and two more (Plitvice lakes and Sjeverni Velebit) are within 2 hours drive by bus. Besides nature, you can enjoy visiting historical dalmatian cities of Šibenik, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik and learn some more about ritch croatian history and tradition... While in Vodice, you also shouldn’t miss visiting some of the dalmatian houses in the surroundings, offering you a great experience with local folk bands and dancing groups, and trying fantastic dalmatian food and domestic drinks...
Kornati Islands NATIONAL PARK, BOAT EXCURSION The Kornati archipelago consists of 140 islands, islets and cliffs, with 89 of them declared a National Park because of its natural beauty due to its numerous coves and crystal clear blue waters. It spreads over a surface of 220km2 and declared a national park in 1980 . There are no permanent residents of the islands and most of the area belongs to the people of Murter island who come to tend the olive groves, the vineyards and orchards. We organize two different types of boat excursions to Kornati Islands national park. One of them is to the area closer to Vodice, and the other one, using the faster boat, goes all the way to Telascica park of nature where you can see the high cliffs towards the open sea and beautiful salt lake... Included in excursion is guide, welcome drink, lunch with choice between 2 menus, wine and live music... Excursion to Kornati Islands starts at 9:00 with return around 17:00 hrs.
Krka waterfalls NATIONAL PARK, BOAT EXCURSION Try Krka National Park, the land of lakes and waterfalls! As another karstic terrain, the national park is full of porous rock through which the Krka river has carved lakes, cascades and caverns. About 2/3 of the course of the Krka river is part of the national park which includes most of the river lakes and the two richest waterfall systems: Roski slap and Skradinski buk. About 55 cubic metres a second flows down Skradinski buk, an amount that is four times greater after a strong rainfall. Skradinski buk is the largest travertine cascade system in Europe with 17 steps up to 400 metres wide. Krka waterfalls national park can be easily reached from Vodice with our boat excursion. Included is guide, welcome drink, entrance ticket to National park , lunch and live music on the boat. Excursion starts at 9:00 and return is at 17:00 hrs...
Plitvice lakes NATIONAL PARK, BUS EXCURSION The waters flowing over the limestone and chalk have, over thousands of years, deposited travertine barriers, creating natural dams which in turn have created a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. These geological processes continue today. The forests in the park are home to bears, wolves and many rare bird species. Plitvice Lakes is one of the oldest national parks in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia. In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO world heritageregister. For our guests, we are organizing a full day excursion, which includes guide, bus , entrance ticket to National park and lunch. Excursion starts at 7:30 in the morning, with return around 20:00 hrs.
Islands tour BOAT EXCURSION Half-day boat excurision that takes you around the islands outside Vodice... After departure, we have a panorama trip down the coast of Vodice bay, and trough Šibenik channel to the city of Šibenik where you have a unique opportunity to see the old town from the sea. On the way back, we have 1 hour stop on Island Zlarin, known about it’s tradition of coral and coral jewelry production, or on island Prvic where you can visit the museum dedicated to famous croatian inventor from 16th century, Faust Vrančić (“croatian Leonardo”)... Before we reach the harbour, we pass by islands Tijat (moufflon reservation) , Logorun (donkey reservation), and old fisherman’s small city of Tribunj... Included is guide, welcome drink, wine, light lunch or snacks and live music. Excursion starts at 9:00 and finishes at 13:30 hrs.
Šibenik CITY TOUR, BUS EXCURSION Šibenik , a gem in the Croatian Adriatic, is situated along the mouth of Krka on the most picturesque part of the eastern Adriatic coast. As the oldest Croatian autochtonous town it was first mentioned in 1066 during the reign of the Croatian King Kresimir IV. The rich cultural and historical heritage of the city is visible in the impressive Cathedral of sv. Jakov [St. Jacob], built by the famous architect Juraj Dalmatinac and is under UNESCO protection. Numerous churches, monasteries, palaces and four fortresses 'frame' the city... A short bus trip from Vodice, only 15 minutes, is giving our guests a chance to see this beautiful city. Excursion includes guide and bus, and it lasts for approx. 4 hours. Additional shopping trips to Šibenik are organized on request.
Split CITY TOUR, BUS EXCURSION Split is the biggest city in Dalmatia and it’s history goes 1700 years back when roman emperor Diocletian decided to build his palace next to the city of Salona, and spend the rest of his life there... Today, it’s one of the most preserved old roman centers in the world, protected by UNESCO as World Heritage since 1979. Because of it’s attractions, festivals, tradition in gastronomy and wine, exhibitions , museums and concerts, it became one of the most important touristic centers of Croatia. After only 1 hour drive from Vodice, our guided tour will take you trough the most interesting parts of the old town of Split. You will also have enough free time for lunch break and to explore the narrow streets on your own... Excursion includes guide and bus, and it lasts approx 7,5 to 8 hours.
Zadar CITY TOUR, BUS EXCURSION Zadar is an ancient Mediterranean port city. The old town, surrounded by walls and towers on a peninsula, with a new, urban part is connected by a bridge, a symbol of the city. Old Zadar is a treasure trove of archaeological treasures and monuments to the ancient, medieval and Renaissance periods. In a city with the most beautiful sunset, in a maritime archipelago facing a multitude of islands and islets, which protect the city from the strong winds, enjoy the symphony of the Sea Organ and magical urban light installation Pozdrav suncu [Greeting the Sun] near the new harbour for cruise ships. Zadar is just 1 hour drive north from Vodice, and we like to present it in the late afternoon and evening hours when it’s most important attractions are showing their magnificence... Excurision includes guide and bus, and lasts for approx. 4,5 hrs.
Medjugorje & Mostar FULL DAY BUS EXCURSION First stop on this excursion is Medjugorje which has become well known in Bosnia-Hercegovina, and the world, because of six young people who claim to have seen visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Beginning on June 24, 1981, the Blessed Mother appeared to, and later told the visionaries, God sent her to our world to help us convert our hearts and lives back to Him... Today, more than 1 million people every year visit Medjugorje. Mostar is just 35 km away. This beautiful old bosnian city was build in 15th and 16th century and it’s famous about it’s old bridge over Neretva river , small stony streets with local crafts and shops and fascinating line of bars and restaurants on the river banks... Excursion to Medjugorje and Mostar takes full day, and includes bus guide, local guide in Mostar and lunch. Trip starts at 7:30 and we are back in Vodice around 20:00 hrs.
Dubrovnik CITY TOUR, BUS EXCURSION George Bernard Shaw was enchanted by this beautiful city, about which he said “those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik”, as well as, famously, describing it as “the pearl of the Adriatic”. It really is a stunning city with an amazing Old Town, which became a UNESCO world heritage site in 1979. The Old Town and its many sights (including the well-preserved city walls along which you can walk) is one of the top attractions here. The Old Town is also famous for Stradun (also known as Placa), the main thoroughfare – one of the greatest pleasures for many visitors is to have a drink in one of the nearby cafes and watch the world go by, Trip includes city guide, bus and lunch in the Old Town. It starts at 7:30, and we return back to Vodice around 20:30 hrs.
