Background • Early college high schools have been established in Texas for the last 11 years • There are 165 early college high schools in the state • Over 20,000 students attend early college high schools • In 2017-2018 YISD will have three different early college high school options 2

The purpose of an early college high school is to provide students with … • a rigorous high school education • the opportunity to graduate from high school with an Associate’s degree from El Paso Community College • the chance to earn college credit towards a bachelor’s degree at UTEP prior to high school graduation under the Accelerated Student Scholarship Program 3

Associate’s Degree • EPCC credits transfer to any PUBLIC university • Credits earned MAY transfer to private or out-of-state universities 4

Financial Benefits • EPCC covers the cost of tuition • YISD covers the cost of textbooks • Students can save approximately $20,000 for the first two years of college 5
