  4. What is is Ext xtension and Achie ievement (E & A)? It is an inclusive extra curriculum programme that lasts one year. Its aim is to engage pupils in new and challenging learning experiences and opportunities. Who is involved with E & A? • E & A is organised and run by the staff at The Carlton Academy with additional input coming from external providers at given points throughout the academic year • Pupils in all years from 7 to 10 have the opportunity to be involved with E and A programme.

  5. What hap appens on th the E E & A programme? Pupils will follow a varied programme of opportunities and participate in sessions that will be fun, challenging and often practical in nature. In school sessions generally connect to an up and coming external visit or relate to the reflecting on such a trip. Students don’t have to engage in every In 2019/20, there will be an ongoing literacy element to the opportunity but must programme in which pupils will be reading, discussing and engage in most reviewing text from a book. External visits range from day trips to residential, the longest of which concludes the year. A list of trips and programme of learning can be found on the 'E & A Yearly Programme of Study 2019-20.'

  6. When do the E & A sessions occur? Pupils will attend lunch, after school and sometimes daytime sessions involving single and mixed year groups. These sessions will occur twice per half term, although this will alter at times when the need arises. Longer gap tasks that link to the in-class and external visit experience will be set and completed by the pupils.

THIS IS NOT A COMPULSORY PROGRAMME

  8. 9. Im Importance of f Commitment • Before each trip there will be a minimum of 1 workshop ran prior to the trip going out. • It is compulsory that your son/daughter attends that workshop that relates to their trip. Failure to do so could result in your son/daughter being removed from the trip. • If your son/daughter is unable to attend the workshop then they MUST inform Mr Daniels at least 24 hours before the workshop .
