Notable, New Customer Case Studies
AWS customer: Salesforce.com Salesforce selects AWS as preferred public cloud infrastructure provider, expanding the use of AWS to core services for planned international infrastructure operation. For the first time, Salesforce will expand use of AWS to core services — including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, App Cloud, Community Cloud, Analytics Cloud and more —for the company’s planned international infrastructure expansion. There is no public cloud that is more sophisticated, more well used by enterprises and one that has more robust capabilities than Amazon. -- Marc Benioff -- Salesforce Chairman and CEO -- The Register, June 3, 2016 10 6/22/2016 #AWSQ2 Slides not intended for redistribution.
AWS customer: GE Oil & Gas GE Oil & Gas is migrating 500 applications to the cloud by the end of 2016 as part of a major digital transformation, helping it attain a 52 percent reduction in TCO. GE Oil & Gas is using the AWS Import/Export Snowball appliance to transfer more than 750 terabytes of data from pipeline inspection machinery to AWS, as well as AWS services such as Amazon Aurora, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, and AWS Trusted Advisor. #AWS-Q2 11 6/22/2016 Slides not intended for redistribution.

AWS customer: Yelp Since its launch in 2004, Yelp has grown from offering services for just one city — San Francisco — to a multinational presence spanning major metros across more than 30 countries. The company’s performance -based advertising and transactional business model led to revenues of more than $500 million during 2015, a 46 percent increase. Monthly, Yelp sites had more than 21M average unique users, 69M unique mobile web users, and 77 million desktop users. At Q1 2016, Yelp had more than 102M local reviews. And, with mobile app users more than 10x engaged as website users, they stressed the analytics infrastructure. Yelp added Amazon Redshift, Amazon EMR, EC2 and S3, dramatically improving its ability to quickly access/analyze data to scale the company. 13 6/22/2016 #AWSQ2 Slides not intended for redistribution.
AWS customer: Yelp “ With Amazon Redshift and Amazon EMR, we’re not only scaling much more effectively, but we’ve been able to cut query performance from hours to mere seconds. This results in richer, real-time analytics that benefit all of our business teams. -- Jason Fennel, VP of engineering for search and data mining 14 6/22/2016 #AWSQ2 Slides not intended for redistribution.
AWS customer: Gannett Gannett operates the largest local-to-national U.S. media network, including its iconic USA TODAY and 107 local properties in 34 states and Guam. The company’s digital product deployments were hobbled by multiple handoffs, manual tests, and siloed development and IT operations teams. Deployment and provisioning times range from a few days to several weeks, with “shadow IT” development happening. Gannett turned to Chef’s DevOps platform, which provides service configuration, deployment, and management tools that work within AWS to automate Gannett’s development and operations processes. As a result, Gannett reduced application deployment times from weeks (on-prem) to just minutes in the AWS cloud, leveraging AWS partner Chef, moving from one desktop deployment weekly to 25 weekly, providing more timely customer services. 15 6/22/2016 #AWSQ2 Slides not intended for redistribution.
