NLIGHTNING TECHNOLOGY INNOVATIVE PoE SPD
PoE Classification (I) IEEE 802.3af – IEEE 802.3at – Max Power : 15.4W Max Power : 25.5W per Mode Max Current : 350mA Max Current : 600mA per Mode (Note) PSE Voltage : 44~57V PSE Voltage : 44~57V PD Voltage : 37~57V PD Voltage : 37~57V Mode A : Power by Pair (1,2) & (3,6) Mode A : Power by Pair (1,2) & (3,6) Mode B : Power by Pair (4,5) & (7,8) Mode B : Power by Pair (4,5) & (7,8) DC Polarity : Any Mode A + B (Note) Cable : CAT3 or CAT5 DC Polarity : Any Data Rate : 10/100/1000Mbps Cable : CAT5 or CAT6 Data Rate : 10/100/1000Mbps Note : Incorporate into 802.3-2012
PoE Classification (II) Cisco UPoE – Passive PoE(Non-Standard) – Max Power : 60W Max Power : By Manufacturer Max Current : 1A Max Current : By Manufacturer PSE Voltage : 44~57V Voltage : 12/24/48 Typical PD Voltage : 37~57V Mode : (4,5) & (7,8) Typical Mode : Power by All 4 Pair DC Polarity : Any DC Polarity : Any Cable : CAT5 or CAT6 Cable : CAT5 or CAT6 Data Rate : 10/100Mbps Typical Data Rate : 10/100/1000Mbps There is no negotiation between PSE and PD for power requirement.
Typical Connection of PoE Devices
Difficulties of PoE SPD Design Generally, 30V transient voltage could damage Ethernet IC PoE IC can only sustain 100V transient voltage Gigabit Ethernet requires low capacitance load on data line (<10pF) There are types of devices operated in different PoE mode Actually, PSE and PD has different circuit, and requires different design SPD must have high surge capability and reliability
How To Evaluate PoE SPD Does it compatible with IEEE 802.3af & 802.3at standard? Does it compatible with non-standard PoE devices? What’s the performance when apply on real PoE devices? If its surge capability is real? Is it small enough for your installation? Will your devices be damaged before SPD failure?

Conclusion PD1000MG can reach 1KA discharge current per line, that means total 8KA for line to earth protection.(Refer to IEC61643-21) It won’t affect transmission of Gigabit PoE, even apply on 100M CAT5e cable. Protection capability was demonstrated by real application, PD1000MG does protect devices from damage. Built-in failure indicator makes it easy to maintain. Size only 25mm x 40mm x 80mm We assumed that PD1000MG is the best Gigabit PoE surge protector in the market right now.
