The Trade Commissioner Service is part of Global Affairs Canada - located in 167 TCS offices around world: 5 regional offices in Cda and 162 offices abroad TCS is “most visible” for: – Negotiating international trade agreements – Trade Commissioners assisting Cdn co’s in trade, investment and innovation promotion – Managing the CanExport funding program and the Canadian Technology Accelerators programmes (8 CTAs located in US, UK, France, India)

CanExport : A five-year (2015-19), $50-million GoC program that provides financial assistance to SMEs Topic Criteria • $200,000 - $50M in annual revenue Eligible Applicants • 1 – 250 FT employees • Be an incorporated legal entity or an LLP • Have a CRA business number • No current/active CanExport projects • Eligible Activities Promote international business development and must go beyond the applicant’s core activities • These activities could include: Business travel, Trade Fairs, Market research, marketing tools for a new market and Legal fees associated with a distribution/representation agreement • New markets only (cannot have had sales in-market in last 24 mos) • Funding Support Reimburses up to 50% of eligible expenses (max. $99,999) • Applicant must match funds on a one-to-one basis • Applicants can only have one active application open at a time
