  2. Energizer Games Pair Tag • Evolution • Viper Tag • Wagon Wheel Tag • Look Down, Look Up •

  3. Ta Tag Game #1: Pair Ta Tag • Have everyone find a partner. Have one participant decide who will be ‘it’ first and who will be ‘chased’ first. • Remind your participants that this is a fast walking game. When the facilitator says “Go!” the person who is ‘it’ walks fast towards the person being ‘chased’. As in a normal tag game the person being ‘chased’ tries to avoid getting tagged by the person who is ‘it’. • If the person being chased is tagged by the ‘it’ then they reverse roles. The person who WAS being chased is now IT and must turn around in a circle before fast walking after their partner. Michelle Cummings M.S. Training Wheels www.training-wheels.com

  4. Ta Tag Game #1: Pair Ta Tag Variations • Eye Contact Tag • Cyclops Tag Michelle Cummings M.S. Training Wheels www.training-wheels.com

  5. Ta Tag Game #2: Evolution The prior knowledge of the famous, "Rock, Paper, Scissors" is a necessity for this game. • Everyone starts out as an egg, in a very egg-like position. Eggs waddle over to other eggs and play rock, paper, scissors. Whoever wins advances to a Chicken. Whoever loses remains an egg. • Chickens must squawk and walk very chicken-like over to another chicken. They play rock, paper, scissors. Whoever wins advances to a velociraptor. Whoever loses remains a chicken. • The Velociraptor lets out a velociraptor yell and walks very velociraptor-like over to another Velociraptor. They play rock, paper, scissors. Whoever wins becomes Immortal and can no longer be effected by anyone. Whoever loses remains a velociraptor. • This continues until you have many Immortals. You could have the remaining eggs, chickens, and velociraptors jokingly bow down to the immortals and say, “We’re not worthy! We’re not worthy!”

  6. Tag Game #3: Viper Ta Ta Tag In this game everyone starts out with two • "vipers." Your "vipers" are your hands with your first two fingers up and ready for striking position. (Like a peace sign with fingers bent.) Once everyone has established their vipers and • can make the viper hiss noise, (do that now), then you are ready for play. Instruct the group that everyone is IT, but you • must stay within the boundaries. If you get tagged by someone's viper, you must hold onto the bite spot with one of your vipers. If you get tagged again, you must hold onto that • bite spot with your other viper. You are now pretty defenseless...if you get tagged one last time you get the opportunity to create a big death and dying scene and remove yourself from the game. The group can vote on the best death and dying scene after the game is over.

  7. Ta Tag Game #4: Wagon Wheel Ta Tag Make your wheel at least 30 feet in diameter for a small group, up • to 60 feet or more in diameter for really large groups. If you are in a gymnasium that already has lines on the floor, you can use the lines that are already in place or put tape down in the shape of a wagon wheel, up to you! After your wheel is constructed, instruct the group to find a place • on the wheel. Ask for one volunteer to start out as ‘it’. For large groups designate four or more people to be ‘it’. I like to use a rubber chicken, Dr. Suess hat or other fun object to designate who is ‘it’. It’s a great visual and it makes the tagger more obvious. Whoever is ‘it’ starts out in the center of the wheel. This is a basic • tag game, however you must stay on the lines of the wheel. You also may not pass anyone in front of you or behind you (which allows for some fantastic strategies to start forming). The ‘it’ person starts out in the center and then chooses whatever spoke they want to go down to begin chasing the other players. The idea is to stay away from the person who is ‘it’ and not get tagged.

  8. Ta Tag Game #5: Look Down, Look Up • Small groups of 5-10 people • Have everyone look down at the imaginary spot in the center of the circle. • When you say, “Look up!” everyone is to pick one person to look at. If they make eye contact with that person they are to point and scream. (with conviction!) • Phase 2: Point, Scream, and run to another group!

  9. Tag Games That Teach Rock, Paper, Scissors Olympics • Protector Destroyer • Knee Coup • Amoeba Tag • Everybody’s It and Slow Mo Tag •

  10. Ta Tag Game #6: Rock, Paper, Scissors Olympics Establish Rock, Paper, Scissors rules • Establish three defined areas, one for • Bronze, one for Silver, one for Gold Everyone starts in Bronze. • Find a partner and play RPS. Whoever • wins advances to Silver. Whoever loses stays in Bronze. If you advance to Silver, find a partner • and play RPS. Whoever wins advances to Gold. Whoever loses devolves back down to Bronze. If you advance to Gold, find a partner • and play RPS. Whoever wins adds one more Gold medal to their medal count. Whoever loses devolves back down to Silver. Play for three minutes. •

  11. Ta Tag Game #7: Protector Destroyer Phase 1: Protector Destroyer Phase 2: Target a behavior, such as bullying Phase 3: Teachable Moment for facilitators or teachers Variations: Science games: Protons, Neutrons, Electrons • Religious game: Christian, Jesus, World •

  12. Ta Tag Game #8: Knee Coup

  13. Ta Tag Game #8: Knee Coup Phase 1: Knee Cap gets tagged once, remove yourself from the game Phase 2: Knee Cap gets tagged twice, remove yourself from the game Phase 3: Knee Cap gets tagged twice or you catch yourself judging someone, remove yourself from the game

  14. Ta Tag Game #9: Amoeba Ta Tag Establish boundaries • One person starts out as ‘it’ • Each person that gets tagged becomes a part of the • amoeba Play until everyone is absorbed! •

  15. Ta Tag Game #10: Everybody’s It and Slow Mo Ta Tag Everybody’s It: Announce the code word that will • start the game. Everyone is it. Last person standing is the winner! Slow Mo Tag: Everyone is it. Participants can take • one step in any direction each time the facilitator says, Step!
