Ruth Discua - Derby Vocal Academy • Unemployed when she came to the Trust in 2012 • Secured £1,500 start up grant to buy musical equipment for her music performance business, Derby Vocal Academy. • Supported by Gen Doran (Enterprise Executive), Alan Mulvany (Business Mentor) and Paul Durrant (Business Coach) • Received £2,900 Growth Grant to buy new equipment as she takes on new students as well as expanding in to corporate and leisure • Signposted to the DNCC’s ERDF E – Business workshops • She’s become an Inspirational Speaker for the Prince’s Trust Explore Enterprise Course • Teaching more students and performing http://derbyvocalacademy.webs.com/
Neelam Atique – Dollies Bakery Unemployed for 2 years when she came to the Trust in 2012 • Always enjoyed baking at home for friends and family. • Attended Explore Enterprise Course to see if self employment was right for her. Received £150 test marketing grant which she used to attend a Food Enterprise Course in Leicester. • Received £1500 start up grant to purchase baking equipment, insurance and marketing materials to set up Dollies Bakery so she could sell her cakes, cupcakes and cookies • Supported by Chrissie Packwood (Enterprise Executive), Maggi Evans (Business Mentor) and Sam Dalby (Business Coach). • Her business has been trading for over 12 months and going from strength to strength with a new website, more cakes and more customers.
