Residency Verification – The Process begins at the School Residency Verification is a standard part of enrollment Residency verification begins at the school: • MSDE requirements for all Maryland schools • PGCPS defines specific acceptable documents (AP5111) • Homeowner/Lessee - proof of ownership/lease agreement; originals required • Shared Housing – Proof of ownership; reviewed annually; notarized statement from homeowner; affidavit signed by parent with up to 30 days to provide 2 additional documents showing proof. Residency Verification – Review During Enrollment School-based personnel and the residency verification process – If documentation supports enrollment, the student is enrolled If documentation does not support enrollment: Registrars consult with the Department of Pupil Accounting • and School Boundaries (PASB); Concerns with documentation, questions, acceptable substitutions If enrollment is denied, parent can request a review from PASB • Post Enrollment Concerns: Returned Mail, Chronic Lateness, Community Tips from Anonymous Sources, Self Report from Students, Suspicious Lease Agreements; Out- of-state tags observed on vehicle which daily transports student PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION • PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS 5 w w w .pgcps.org

Residency Verification - Guidelines for Pupil Personnel Workers Post-Enrollment Concerns: Schools take action: updated documents, mail info, mailing • test (restricted delivery letter), request clarification / explanation from parent. Consult with PASB • Refer Case to Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW) for • Investigation Investigative Process: PPWs review school’s efforts to date; initiated contact with • parent(s); request, by certified mail, additional verification; telephone contact.
