  8. Student Feedback When we got the opportunity to meet our year long mentors and • some counselors. That to me was the most helpful because now I have someone to talk to who went through the struggles that I could be having. In my opinion being able to interact with possible classmates and • current students being the navigators was a success. That way in case I need help they are there or for the class mates it is less hard to ask for help. However I enjoyed that it helped strengthen leadership skills in the form of getting comfortable with my surroundings. Great tips! I loved Minette’s encouraging words and one thing I learned from • peer navigator named Sarab is, "Getting comfortable in uncomfortable situations." Thank you Sarab and Minette!!

  9. Recommendations • Implement targeted outreach to increase the number of African American and male students that participate in Summer CRUISE. • Establish minimum expectations for communication between Peer Navigators and Summer CRUISE participants. • Provided targeted support to male students to facilitate course retention, particularly in the spring semester.

  10. 2016-2017 • 2016 CRUISE – Engagement and Preparation – Morning and Evening CRUISE – Integration of International Students • 16 Peer Navigators – Intensive Training • New Space

  11. Student Feedback • Comments – The whole idea of summer cruise made me feel that you care about students comfort and progress. – Meeting other new students of different origins. – Felt very welcome when the Vice President and the President gave their respective speeches. Interacting with the students was very helpful and fun.
