  1. Statement of Entry Challenge/Objective: Our objective for 2014 was to utilize partnership to provide engaging, impactful events at high quality venues free to our members. This gives added value to our members and encourages/incents new members to join our organization. Our challenge is to continually find high quality sponsors for our events. This includes the event venue, food and beverage, speakers, auction donations, and hotel accommodations. Our Plan: Our plan was to strategically place board members who are vital assets in the local hospitality industry that we could leverage sponsorship best with while growing our exposure. Our board contains members from the largest hospitality employers in the market, touching on each pillar of HSMAI. With such a large network, we are able to utilize a wide array of connections to provide fully sponsored, best in class programming. The Result: We were able to secure enough sponsors to provide a full year of cutting edge events with no cost to us. Because of this, we were able to offer all our events free to members. This creates a huge added value and selling point for our HSMAI Minnesota Chapter memberships. We will see increased attendance, participation, and exposure at our events With this, we should see continual growth of our chapter. The Minnesota Chapter was able to secure almost $23,000 in sponsorships in 2014, from over 17 different organizations, hotels, companies or individuals.

  2. Our silent auction raised over $1500 for our UW-Stout membership scholarships so their students can enjoy the benefits of HSMAI membership as they prepare to start their careers in hospitality.

  3. Our fundraising, partnership, and educational events earned us over $5000 in funds to send board members to the 2015 HSMAI Mike Leven Leadership Conference.

  4. The HSMAI Minnesota chapter raised over 30 pounds of non-perishable food items for our local food shelf. We did this by hosting a food drive at each of our educational events. This gave our members a chance to reach out and help our community members in need.
