  4. Our Cause... T REASURE REASURE F OR C HILDREN ’ S P RIMARY E DUCATION T REASURE REASURE

  5. Treasure is a non-profit organization based in Switzerland. It ’ s aim is to promote and support children ’ s primary education and health in developing countries and in regions affected by war, natural disasters and diseases. T REASURE REASURE

  6. It is our responsibility that every child should know how to read, write and count, regardless of his origins, social background or level of wealth. Children ’ s basic needs, such as food and having a safe place to live, are necessary to give every being an equal right to freedom, opportunities and safety. T REASURE REASURE

  8. Lack of education is one of the main reasons for poverty. Main households managing on a surviving level, will have their children work to contribute to their family income. This will forbid the children from getting a basic scholar education. When in their turn they will become parents, this unfortunate pattern will repeat. This vicious circle is hard to break without our help. T REASURE REASURE

  9. The non respect of children ’ s right is widely know of. By providing a basic education, we allow children to simply know their rights and that the latter need to be respected. We give them the means, knowledge and ability to fight and defend themselves and their surroundings. T REASURE REASURE

  10. In most countries, it is compulsory for children to receive primary education, though in many jurisdiction it is not permissible for parents to provide it. ! Free primary school for all children is a fundamental right to which governments Sadly over 20% of children aged committed themselves under the between 6 and 11 years old do not have 1989 Convention of the Right of access to education. Among those 125 million of children, 75% are girls. Child. T REASURE REASURE

  11. Education is to be the first step in a nation-building. To provide primary education to children, without violating the local social customs and family traditions, reduces poverty, fights against children abuse, promotes concern for the environment and is inextricably linked to gender parity, as universal primary education by definition requires gender parity. 12. March 2010 Last week of March, we went to visit the school in Pomgaon. Children, teachers, the principal and other members of the school greeted us. The children ’ s gratefulness was very touching and they were all most beautiful. 250 uniforms were very generously donated by Boutique Décoration Chez Lise in Verbier, (Lise & Jean-François Michellod), were distributed individually to each child. Brijesh (Executive Officer, India) got the material at a very reduced price and the uniforms were stitched to each child ’ s size, by a tailor from the village. T REASURE REASURE

  20. " Treasure is a non or profit organization and has been well established in Geneva since 2003. " Treasure has no salaries, and all admin fees are taken by the Committee members. Thanks to this, we can do a lot without loosing money in admin fees that do not reach children. " Treasure hosts annual local events to raise awareness and funding for issues relating to children’s primary health and education. T REASURE REASURE

  21. - Treasure partners with local Geneva based businesses in bringing awareness on issues relating to child development. - We raise funds in Geneva through private donations, company donations, Geneva government, private school and through the organization of events. - Sponsorship of humanitarian issues only helps businesses towards achieving a higher level of corporate social responsibility. 23. Why Our Efforts are Still Needed What is needed for 2011 # All buildings and classrooms in proper conditions – A lot of work has already been done, but there is still things to do and we also need to paint all buildings in earth colors, as they deteriorate quickly # Clean & Safe additional dormitories – Many children live far away and transport is either expensive or unavailable. # Food facility – An equipped kitchen, with eating facilities is necessary. As along with sanitation, children also need to learn about good nutrition # Certified English Instructors – The language thought in the school is Marathi. English is widely spoken in local services and industries. Therefore English is needed to allow children to progress themselves and their families, with minimizing the risks for them to end up in slums # Rebuilding the schools and sanitations of Shiravali and other neighboring villages – This will allow the main Pomgaon school to collaborate with the surrounding schools, coordinate the curriculum and be able to accept more children T REASURE REASURE
