Project objective • To improve the livelihood situation of the many young and jobless people by improving their skills through vocational skill training that ensures reliable jobs and hence family income. Presentation for the Diaspora Side 2 Programme's AGM 2015
Training Program • 96 trainees (48 young boys and 48 young girls) were selected equally from the six subdivisions of Hamar Weine district and according to the selection criteria previously discussed with the district authorities and community elders. Business groups 12 groups of business cooperative among the girls and boys were formed during business training to better understand how the cooperative works. 71 out of 96 (42 girls and 29 boys) have successfully completed the skill training and handed over materials like tailors, kits and tools of mobile repairing and incentives were conducted in the eyes of the district authority and community representatives as well as representative from the regional authority. The New Project • The overall objectives of the project are 1) To improve the overall living conditions of the young generations aging between 18-35 years who were deprived from schooling opportunities during the civil unrest in Somalia for the past three decades through vocational skill training. • 2) Building the capacity of the local authorities to tackle and assume the responsibility of this challenge in the long-term through the construction of a training center, provision of the basic training equipment of the center and the conduct of two skill-trainings.
