Seeing People the Way Christ Sees Them
2 Cor orinthi thians 5:1 :16-21 (ESV) V) From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the fmesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the fmesh, we regard him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creatjon. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come .
2 Cor orinthi thians 5:1 :16-21 (ESV) V) 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliatjon; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not countjng their trespasses against them, and entrustjng to us the message of reconciliatjon.
2 Cor orinthi thians 5:1 :16-21 (ESV) V) 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
John ohn 5 (ESV) V) Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has fjve roofed colonnades. 3 In these lay a multjtude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed. 5 One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years.
John ohn 5 (ESV) V) 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long tjme, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” 7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stjrred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.”
John ohn 5 (ESV) V) 8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” 9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.
2 Cor orinthi thians 5:1 :14-21 (Mes Messag age) e) Our fjrm decision is to work from this focused center: One man died for everyone. That puts everyone in the same boat. He included everyone in his death so that everyone could also be included in his life, a resurrectjon life, a far betuer life than people ever lived on their own.
2 Cor orinthi thians 5:1 :14-21 (Mes Messag age) e) Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore
2 Cor orinthi thians 5:1 :14-21 (Mes Messag age) e) Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who setuled the relatjonship between us and him, and then called us to setule our relatjonships with each other.
2 Cor orinthi thians 5:1 :14-21 (Mes Messag age) e) God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by ofgering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatjves.
2 Cor orinthi thians 5:1 :14-21 (Mes Messag age) e) God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their difgerences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.
2 Cor orinthi thians 5:1 :14-21 (Mes Messag age) e) 21 How? you ask. In Christ. God put the wrong on him who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God.
