  3. In the Pit ➢ No sparks or flames ➢ Safety glasses ➢ Keep work space clean ➢ Permit only a small amount of people in the area ➢ Allow appropriate space for those working ➢ Hearing protection

  4. Importance of Hearing Protection When noise is too loud, it damages the nerve endings in the ear. Prolonged exposure to loud noise destroys nerve endings. Your ability to hear depends on the health of these nerve endings. There is no way to restore life to dead nerve endings; the damage is permanent. The longer you are exposed to a loud noise, the more damaging it may be. Also, the closer you are to the source of intense noise, the more damaging it is.

  5. Hearing Protection How to: ➢ Roll the ear between your thumb and index finger ➢ Insert into your ear ➢ Allow it to expand to fill your ear

  8. Good Materials to Have ➢ Fire Extinguisher ➢ First aid Kit ➢ Gloves ➢ Safety Glasses

  9. First Aid ➢ Keep a log of incident reports ➢ Note corrective actions to prevent additional injury ➢ Clean the wound and use proper material to take care of it

  10. Battery Spills ➢ Put on chemical resistant gloves, nitrile for example ➢ Use baking soda to neutralize the acid ➢ Carefully place battery in a disposable container and collect and clean the residue left from neutralizing the acid ➢ Properly dispose of the battery

  11. Lifting the Robot ➢ Lift with your legs ➢ Use gloves ➢ Be aware of potential sharp edges ➢ Lift by the frame- not bumpers ➢ Have clear path during transport

  12. Emergency Evacuation ➢ Have predetermined: ○ Exit routes ○ Meeting Place ➢ Take “Roll Call” when you’re outside
