  4.  AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other postsecondary opportunities.  AVID’s goal is to prepare all students in a school for college, starting with the core elective class and expanding school-wide.  The AVID Elective class targets students in the academic middle, who have the desire to go to college and are capable of completing rigorous curriculum using the will to work hard.

  5.  Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience, leading to a higher level of student engagement and success;  At PHS there are 52 Junior and Senior Link Crew Leaders who mentor and guide freshmen;  Currently PHS has 315 freshmen who are mentored by their Link Leaders (Groups of 10 with the same two leaders for the entire year);  There are four components to Link Crew: ◦ High School Orientation ◦ Academic Follow Ups ◦ Social Follow Ups ◦ Leader Initiated Contacts

  6.  Project Lead the Way Pathway is a 4-year STEM Engineering curriculum that upon successful completion will guarantee our students acceptance into CSU, Chico’s Department of Engineering.  PHS received a 4-year grant that provides all computer hardware, software, Epson interactive projector, 4 years of professional development for teachers, and an on-line teacher network.  PHS currently has 27 freshmen students enrolled in Introduction to Engineering Design. This class will be followed by Principles of Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and Engineering Design and Development.

  7.  Part of the Butte-Glen Career Pathways Consortium: 2 COE, CSUC, Butte College,16 School Districts, and 17 businesses;  Linked Learning – brings together strong academics, a demanding technical education, and real-world experiences;  Students can chose between four industry-themed pathways:  Engineering Design – Project Lead the Way  Patient Care  ICT, Networking  Welding $101,250 awarded for 2014-2015

  10.  A global community of teenagers creating better futures through social enterprises, socially responsible businesses and community service;  PHS class of 17 students who develop their own businesses. The business must either be a Socially Responsible Business or a Social Enterprise Business;  The entrepreneurial class works with a local Business Advisory Board;  Each entrepreneurial team is mentored by a CSUC SAGE mentor;  All students showcase their entrepreneurial innovation and creativity before a panel of influential leaders, while developing a direct connection to nearby colleges and universities.
