VET incorporation into ATAR ATAR Each VET qualification level will have a single scaled score that can be included in the student’s ATAR e.g. Cert III in Fitness and Cert III in Dance will have the same scaled score, regardless of duration or content A scaled score for a VET Diploma will be higher than a Certificate IV, which in turn will be higher than a Certificate III. VET scaled scores are unlikely to be as strong as General subjects.

Australian Tertiary Admission Rank ATAR Adjustments ATAR Universities have policies for giving “bonuses” • Maths C • Language subjects • University level subjects (GUESTS, Start QUT, UQ ESP etc.) Important notes • The student’s actual ATAR does not change • Bonuses are applied by the university during the admissions process • Bonus ranks only apply to courses that select primarily on ATAR score • There is no guarantee that bonus policies will continue • Getting a bonus should not be the sole reason for choosing a subject – the student’s performance in a subject is a stronger factor.
