French Immersion • Must take 4 core courses in French in Grade 8, 9 and 10 • Offer 4 courses at Grade 10 level -Langue Seconde -Sciences Humaines -Sciences 10 -Mathematiques or Planification 10 • Students may take both Mathematiques 10 and Planification 10 if they wish • Grade 11 - Langue Seconde and Sciences Humaines • Grade 12 – Langue Seconde

  8. Honours Program • Application form required. • Students work at an enriched and accelerated pace. • Improve writing skills and further develop problem solving strategies. • Students will engage in activities that allow them to gain a deeper level of understanding of the topics.

Advanced Placement • Application form required • Minimum % requirement which is course specific • Percentages vary according to subject area • Emphasize a commitment to academic excellence • Develop the study habits necessary for tackling rigorous course work • Study subjects in greater depth and detail • Demonstrate your readiness for University

Learning Support Services Learning Centre courses: • Learning Support 8-12 Modified Programs: • PEP Pre-Employment Program • Access Alternate Program Mr. Nikesh Mehta, Department Head of Learning Support is available to answer questions and will be hosting a short presentation in the Library immediately following this presentation.

Grades 8-11 Course Selection • Counsellors visit classes starting January 30 th • Grade 8 - Science classes • Grade 9 - Math classes • Grade 10-Socials classes • Grade 11-English classes • ESL Students - ESL classes • Students take forms home to parents • Students return all forms and attachments to classroom teachers where course selection took place starting in February • ESL I and II students to return forms to their ESL teacher • Course verifications in late April.

This includes 4 credits for a Language Arts 12 course.

Career Programs Work Experience Elective Options 1) Career Preparation – 4 credit elective 90 hour work experience program aimed at students interested in exploring one or two career areas – completed over grades 11 and 12 2) Industry Training Programs ACE-IT, Industry Connect and Industry Certification students earn high school credits by taking focused elective courses all in one area at another site while taking required courses at Moscrop 3) Secondary School Apprenticeship career interest in the trades – student can earn up to 16 credits while being paid for their work with a red seal journeyman

Grade 8 Entry: Registration French Immersion Program Within Catchment area/Burnaby Schools – If currently living within the catchment area for Moscrop’s French Immersion Program and attending a Burnaby French Immersion school-entrance is through the course selection process Within Catchment area /Outside Burnaby – If currently living within the catchment area for Moscrop’s French Immersion Program, but attending a French Immersion school outside of Burnaby, an Out of District application must be completed and received at Moscrop between Feb 1-28, 2017
