Course Selection Sheet Presentation
8 th Grade- 2018-2019 • All 8 th grade students will be scheduled into their 4 CORE classes. • Those 4 CORE classes will be Language Arts, Science, Math, and Social Studies. • If you are currently in an advanced language arts class, an advanced science class, and/or an advanced social studies class this year, you will again be placed in an advanced class for 2018-2019. • Your math class for 2018-2019 will be the next math level up from where you are currently at this year. Pre-algebra- 2018-2019 will be Linear algebra Compact 7B/8- 2018-2019 will be High School Algebra Linear algebra- 2018-2019 will be High School Algebra High School Algebra- 2018-2019 will be High School Geometry
-Students will have two elective classes each semester. Your elective class could be a semester long class or your elective class might last the entire school year. -Students will rank their elective choices numbering on the list (1-8). Ranking a class (1) is what you want as your highest priority. -Please make sure that you rank your top 8. -Course selection sheets are not complete until you rank 1-8, even if you sign up for one year round elective class or both of your elective classes are year round elective classes.
YEAR LONG ELECTIVE CHOICES SHOULD ALWAYS BE ASSIGNED A HIGHER PRIORITY NUMBER THAN ANY SEMESTER ELECTIVE!
Elective Choices • If you plan on being in a year long elective class or both of your elective classes are year long, these classes must be your highest priority when doing your rankings. (rank them as 1 and 2 on your course selection sheet) • Year long elective classes are as follows; • Band Advanced • Chorus • Chorus Advanced • Orchestra Advanced • Photography • Spanish 2 (You must have taken Spanish I in 7 th grade to sign up for this class) • Yearbook • PE (There is a separate slide in this presentation that provides an example on how to sign up for year long PE) • Theater (There is a separate slide in this presentation that provides an example on how to sign up for year long theater)

Due Date- Course selection sheets All course selection sheets are due back to your 2 nd period teacher on- Monday, February 26, 2018! -Course selection sheets must have a parent and student signature! -Any student who returns their course selection sheet in after the deadline may not get their top choices.
