Rutland’s 20 th Anniversary
Saturday 1 st April 2017 marks Rutland’s 20 th Anniversary of Independence • A series of events are being planned to mark the Anniversary, including flag raising, beacon lighting and fireworks • Communities are warmly encouraged to join in the weekend of celebrations by running their own special events • Rutland County Council will be providing a logo and templates for posters and flyers • A Civic Event at Oakham Castle on the morning of 1 st April will be attended by dignitaries including Lord Porter of Spalding and representatives of our Armed Forces communities • Musical performances and a festival of films about Rutland, created by Rutland residents, will run throughout the day at Oakham Castle – if you have home movie clips of Rutland please get in touch! castle@rutland.gov.uk • A statue of Jeffrey Hudson, the Smallest Man from the Smallest County, will be unveiled at Rutland County Museum on the afternoon of 1 st April
