Grades are calculated as follows: Daily work = 40% and Major work = 60% for each grading period A grade average of 70 or above AND 90% class attendance for the semester are required to earn credits. Credits are awarded per semester class. One half credit for each semester class that meets the above criteria. 7 CLASSES = 7 CREDITS
GPA is determined by the grade average AND the level of the class. So your grade average in each class is just as important as the level (PreAP or regular) of the classes you take. Class Rank is determined by GPA. The student with the highest GPA has the highest class rank. College and scholarship applications require GPA and Class Rank information so it is important to remember that YOUR RESUME STARTS HERE!

As you already know, the school year is divided into two semesters and each semester has two nine week grading periods (quarters). The semester average is calculated as follows: Average of the both quarters = 80% Semester exam = 20% REMEMBER: Credits are awarded by semester.
Progress Report Dates Report Card Dates • SGP 9 th Grade Center does not issue printed grade reports to students. Students who are failing at progress and/or report card submission, however, will have the grade report mailed to their home by the district. Grades will be available on Skyward Parent and Student Portal. • GPISD will be rolling out Student Access in early September which will be a mirror image of the current Family Access Parent Portal. Student Access allows students to access and monitor grades, attendance, schedules, online course requests, etc. on a daily basis.
SGP 9 th Grade students will take the following EOC exams according to TEA guidelines: English I Reading and Writing Algebra I Biology Students must meet standard on English I, English II, Algebra I, U.S. History and Biology End of Course exams to graduate from SGP High School.
SWAT stands for South Warrior Advisory Teams. Each student at SGP , 9 through 12, is assigned to a SWAT class for advisory. Each student will report to SWAT class on the first day of school to pick up their official schedule and to complete the first day of school activities. Throughout the year, students will attend SWAT for goal setting, future planning and other guidance lessons as well as for distribution of paperwork and other housekeeping activities.
Study hall is offered each morning in the Main Street computer lab beginning at 7 am. Teachers will be available each morning to assist students with assignments. In addition, each teacher will have their own tutoring schedule. Students should check with their teacher and make note of tutoring opportunities.
Student schedules will be available for pick up according to the following schedule: Tuesday, August 13 11am to 7 pm Wednesday, August 14 8 am to 11am 1 pm to 4 pm Thursday, August 15 8 am to 11am 1 pm to 4 pm Please be sure to bring your parent with their state issued id, your proof of residency and your printed proof of online registration.
