  2. What is Playbill Vault.Com? PlaybillVault.com is a free comprehensive database of Broadway history from Playbill Inc. The database was launched December 1, 2011 and is updated daily. This data base has over 612,240 records. It contains information on over 10,000 Broadway shows and 120,000 actors, creative teams and crew members. Playbill Vault offers an interactive treasure trove for theatre fans, students, aficionados and historians alike. (Playbillvault.com, 2015) The collection features records from all Broadway shows associated with Playbill, from 1930 until the present season.

  3. What can I expect to find in Playbill Vault? The world’s largest catalog of virtual and interactive Playbills. Information regarding theatres, run time and grosses. Easy search options, all productions are searchable by title, person, theatre or by season starting with the 1930-1931 season.

  4. Let the Show Begin! How to Access Playbill Vault Play Bill Vault is a free database that you can access by a link on the Play Bill website or directly at the following web address. http://www.playbillvault.com/index.html

  5. Act I How to Search Clickable tabs divide the home page into six major areas: People, Shows, Theatres, Awards, Seasons, and Grosses. Users may browse Shows, People, or Theatres from the browse tab. The keyword search box located at the top of the home page can be used for quick searches. The Extra Tab contains Official Broadway Shows, Actors and Personnel Twitter and Facebook accounts.

  6. Search By People Using the Search People tab, you can search for members of the theatre community with little or no information. For instance, if you were searching for an actress and only knew her first name and year of birth you can find her here! The more information you can provide the more accurate the search will be.

  7. Search by People Results Search by people results will give you the following information: • Name • Occupation • Birth date and City of birth • Official Website, Facebook page and Twitter account • Roles performed • Photos

  8. Search by Show When you search by show, you can search by show title or theatre. On this tab you can find any Broadway show from 1930 to current runs.

  9. Search by Show Results In addition to the information on the right Show search results will provide the following information: • Inside look at the Playbill • Synopsis • Current Cast information • Awards • Grosses • Photos

  10. Search by Theatres You can perform this search by either theatre name or street address. In addition to providing information about the theatre, you can find information on every performance at the theatre dating back to 1930.

  11. Search by Theatre Results Search by theatre will give you the following information: • Current and previous name of the theatre • Brief history of the theatre • Year built • Number of seats • Photos • What is currently playing and all previous shows that have played at the theatre.

  12. Search By Awards You can search for winners and nominees of over 10 awards in over 40 categories. You can search by all awards within a time frame, by actor or by show. The search can be narrowed down to include only the winners, nominees or both. Included on the page is a list of award winning shows currently playing on Broadway. Search results include name of the award, category, name of winner/nominee and name of show.

  13. Search by Season Using this search you can find information on shows that opened during any season from 1930-1931 through 2015-2016. The search results give the name of the show, theatre and date it opened. There are links to view the Playbill and also to get a brief description of the play.

Intermission Broadway Fun Facts ♪ Broadway theatres are mostly not on Broadway There are 40 Broadway theatres, but only 4 are actually on Broadway. ♪ Seating capacity is what makes a Broadway theatre. A Broadway theatre doesn’t have to be on Broadway, but it does have to seat at least 500 people. An Off-Broadway theatre seats between 100 and 499. ♪ There is no row ‘I’ in most Broadway theatres.   15. Act II Grosses This tab will show you the grosses by week of every show from 6/9/1985 to current. It shows the current gross for the week compared to the prior week, average ticket price and number of seats sold.

  16. Browse Not quite sure what you are looking for? Click on the browse tab where you can browse over 7,000 shows, 125,000 people or 600 theatres. You can either browse by category or use the search function.
