Introduction • MTC Supervisor for Cox Communications in Southern Arizona and Phoenix. • I have been employed with Cox Communications for 14 years. • Over 35 years experience in IT, including PC, Network, Server installation and support. • Coach football and boys and girls basketball at Continental Middle School. • Born and raised in Tucson.
Past • Cox has been in the Southern Arizona market since 1988 • Video - Analog TV with some premium channels, about 50 total channels available. • Data - @home was our internet service and just in the infancy stage. • Voice - Analog phone service was our fastest growing product.

Future Network Transformation: • A 10-year, multi-billion dollar initiative to transform our network • Among the largest initiatives in Cox’s history, and involves all business units as a change of this magnitude also transforms our business • Meeting the consumers’ demand for bandwidth as it increases up to 50% YoY • An investment to ensure delivery of state-of-the-art high speed internet service throughout more homes and businesses; powering the smart homes, smart businesses, smart cities of today and the future What it delivers: • Fiber optic cable closer to the customer • DOCSIS 3.1 (the latest cable broadband standard) deployment • G1GABLAST availability to more homes, with a goal of giving more than 99% of Cox residential customers access to gig speeds by end of 2020. • Panoramic WiFi upgrades to include next generation equipment
Summary • Spectrum is finite, the move to fiber connectivity is imperative to maintain growth demands. • Gig Everywhere Initiative is driving us to increase bandwidth to keep up with our consumers demands. • Growing pains will decrease as we converge platforms. • Mobility, accessibility, and streaming are the demands we must meet for our customers. • Design for the unknowns.
