  19. AYSP School Participation Policy All members of AYSP must be enrolled as regular members of their curricular school band or orchestra, if available, for the duration of their participation in AYSP . This is an important statement of support for school music programs which serve a broad range of students with varying levels of ability. We expect AYSP musicians to participate in and be leaders of those school programs. By participating in school music programs, students benefit from playing every day, become better sight-readers and musicians, and play an important part in helping to build strong music programs in our schools and community. School Participation Forms must be turned in by August 31 Return form during rehearsal to a Parent Manager OR  Scan completed form and email to bea@aysmusic.org 

  20. AYSP STUDENT ATTENDANCE POLICY Like every sports team, participation in a symphony orchestra is a team activity . Each  musician has been individually selected and placed in his or her ensemble to play an important, individual role. When a player – whether on a sports team or in a musical ensemble – is missing, the entire ensemble suffers. For this reason, it is critical that each musician attend all rehearsals, for the good of the  ensemble and for the maximum benefit to the individual musician. High School Ensembles – 3 absences maximum per year (~ one absence per concert)  Chamber Music Program – 1 absence maximum per semester  Required school music events not counted toward total absences  All dress rehearsals and concerts are required – no absences permitted (except December  optional concert)  Communicate!  Student must let his/her conductor know as soon as a conflict arises.  REPORT THE ABSENCE ONLINE – www.ayysmusic.org → programs → High School Ensembles → [Your Student’s Ensemble]

  23. A Word About Being On Time Parents, please help your student be on time to rehearsal. Rehearsal begins at 6:30pm SHARP . In order for rehearsal to BEGIN at 6:30pm, students should plan to arrive 20-30 minutes early to set up and warm up. This is very important. Conductors will discuss this important matter with the students, but please also reinforce this at home. IF YOU ARE EARLY, YOU ARE ON TIME. IF YOU ARE ON TIME, YOU ARE LATE.

  24.
