Today, we kick off the 2018 Help Hauser Fight hunger Drive
Again this year, our drive will benefit both the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Food Pantry and the Riverside Township Food Pantry
Salvation Army’s Red Shield Center food pantry is located in the Englewood community of Chicago About 16 miles from Hauser
The Riverside Township Food Pantry is located in the Riverside Town Hall right here in Riverside It serves Riverside, Riverside Lawn, Brookfield, North Riverside and Lyons
Whe When? n? Friday, March 16th – Friday, April 27th
What? • Collect cans of food /non-perishable items • Collect cash donations • Pack meals
On Saturday, April 14th we will hold a “Feed Our Community Day” • Pack 50,000 meals in Hauser Cafeteria • Pack meals from 9am-5pm • Meals will be macaroni and cheese and will feed six people • Create a team and come pack
Cans and donations can be dropped off these mornings at school Friday, April 6th Tuesday, April 10th Friday, April 13th Tuesday, April 17th Friday, April 20th Tuesday, April 24th Friday, April 27th from 7:30-8:00am
Cans and donations will be collected at these upcoming Hauser events Spring Musical Spring Band Concert Spring Orchestra Concert 5 th Grade Games Night Encourage your family and relatives to donate when they come to your performance
A bunch of new fun things this year Penny Wars Raffle Weeks
Penny Wars • One week competition between grades – 3/19-3/23 • Collect change during to lunch to raise money to purchase cans and meals • Silver coins subtract from grade total • Teachers from losing grades will get pies in the face from winning grade teachers

Raffle Week 3 – April 23rd A delicious lunch delivered to lunch for you and your lunch table.
Grand Prize Raffle Gift card surprise for you worth $50 value. Listen for announcement. Everyone who was entered in one of the weekly raffles will be entered in the Grand Prize Raffle
Drop Donations off two ways • Front entrance; tables by grade • Big loads drop in back; drive through Band drop off lane • Each can will be counted and tallied
How Do we count the cans? • $1.00 = 2 cans • Less than and up to 15oz. = 1 can • 16oz. – 28oz. = 2 cans • 32oz.+ = 3 cans • Individual packaged food = 1 can • Can value list posted on bulletin board outside auditorium and on PTO website
It’s a grade vs. grade competition again this year Which grade will win? 6 th ? 7 th ? 8 th ?

A Friday afternoon for the entire class to hang out and have a blast at Hauser Open Gym • Movie in the auditorium • From 1-3pm on a Friday Afternoon • Yes, you get to miss afternoon classes •
For 48 years, Hauser Jr. High has been the largest contributor to the Salvation Army’s Englewood Food Pantry
Hauser supplied 22% of the food that was given to local families this year from the Riverside Food Pantry
We have donated over 1,700,000 cans to food pantries

Where can I get cans/donations from? • Ask your family • Ask your neighbors • Ask your family friends • Write a letter to put in neighbor’s mailboxes talking about the drive and letting them know when you will be coming by to pick up donations • Send an Electronic message to family and friends letting them know about donating electronically with CheddarUp link.
