Recruiting/Outreach Logo Why do you think this logo was adopted to represent Outreach & Recruiting?
KPMI Vision Priority: Identify an active volunteer base, which enables growth in the ministry Goal Alignment: ▪ Develop a successful recruitment program that identifies new volunteers and sustains existing volunteer base ▪ Define needs of volunteers and training, including diversity of volunteers to grow by 5%. ▪ Develop relations with denominations, 4th day movements, and other potential volunteer sources (national and local)
What we hope to accomplish today: 1. Present a more accurate definition and description of the actual function of the R-O Coordinator. (Hint #1: It's almost certainly not what you currently think it is! ) 2. Set out a clear plan for getting started quickly down the path of recruiting volunteers interested in prison ministry for the very same reasons YOU are! 3. Review - ROCK Checklist to assist your Outreach/Recruiting activities. 4. Demonstrate how to find all of the currently available Kairos recruiting tools from just one easily accessible location. 5. Begin work on developing a path forward for your Kairos community. 6. Conduct this four hour workshop in a manner that is both fast paced and enjoyable! ( Hint #2: If you aren't having fun and really enjoying your hugely important roll as Recruiting- Outreach Coordinator then . . . you probably aren't doing it right! ) 7. Provide an opportunity to Follow Up on your Learnings …..
Elevator Speech… ▪ Elevator Speech: Imagine you are in an elevator (or any other place) and a person who is interested in…and can possibly have an influence on Kairos, asks you ‘ what is Kairos ?’. You only have a few moments to get your message across. Think about what you want to say, clearly and concisely in only a few sentences. ▪ The objective is to lead to an invitation for more dialogue. This in turn helps create exposure for Kairos and can lead to new volunteers. ▪ There are 3 components to the Elevator Speech: ▪ Impact on you. ▪ Christian impact on inmates/families/society. ▪ Follow up.
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS OF RECRUITING For All New (and used!) Outreach/Recruiting Coordinators I. Thou shalt never consider thyself solely responsible for recruiting. Thou art not! II. Remember your title of 'coordinator' means one who arranges in proper order. III. Your main job function is to bring order to the different approaches your associate volunteers will be making. They are the recruiters and you are their coordinator! IV. You are never alone, even when it appears that way. There is always someone to call for advice and support. Always! Just remember to reach out for help. This should be easy because it's actually in your job title. V. Kairos Recruiting is not rocket science, but primarily common sense and focus. Remind your fellow volunteer recruiters of this as often as possible.
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS OF RECRUITING, continued For All New (and used!) Outreach/Recruiting Coordinators VI. Before you encourage your unit's volunteers to go somewhere new, find out where they are already going. Their best prospects are usually already in their contact list! VII. No one on planet earth likes to be 'sold' anything. Kairos recruiting is never selling, but simply sharing positive experiences and then asking a few follow-up questions. VIII. Expect positive results and you are more likely to actually realize positive results. IX. Daily prayer is the single most important item on your job description. Mt 7:7 X. Becoming a Kairos volunteer is one of the best things to happen to those of us now in prison ministry. It's not for everyone, to be sure, but for those currently serving the Lord through this ministry it is a privilege, an honor and an adventure! That's the main message you should be coordinating your fellow volunteers to spread.
Where to start? 1. Understand and Embrace your Coordinator Role 2. Ensure that the Advising Council and your Kairos Community are the recruiters and you are their coordinator! 3. Utilize the ROCK - Checklist as a “Road Map”. 4. Be familiar with the many resources available to enable your recruiters. http://www.mykairos.org/ 5. Remember, very few of us were recruited in the end with a http://www.kairostexas.org/ http://www.kairostexas.org/Recruiting-Outreach.html video or brochure … it was a one on one exchange along with a personal invitation. 6. Ensure we never fail to follow up with someone who has expressed an interest in Kairos!
